TWO DAY CONFERENCE ON ENDOCRINOLOGY CONCLUSION.

The two-day medical conference called EPIC (Empower Physicians with International Practices in Advanced Diabetes Care) ended here yesterday with a motivational keynote from Padma Bhushan Olympian Abhinav Bindra.
Abhinav shared about his life journey and how sport has changed his outlook on life with different facets of life and character that have helped him develop more self-esteem, self-discipline and self-confidence and more importantly, overcome the fear of failure.
You learn to listen to your coach and other experts and analyze your own strengths and weaknesses and improve your ability to stay focused and determined in the moment through regular practice, he said, which everyone should try to be and get the best Better than yesterday.
The conference ended with a session on work-life balance from ex-IAS author and TEDx presenter Vivek Atray, who addressed physical and mental fitness by advising patients to pursue creative pursuits and manage anger and stress through regular meditation to cope with what is essential for coping with diseases of civilization such as diabetes and obesity.
Abhinav responded to doctors’ questions about stress and anxiety. He said that all conflicts arise from within and that only the practice of focusing on the moment to achieve what one wants to do can make a difference.
When asked if more athletes won’t be winning medals for the country, Abhinav said we need to develop a sports culture where everyone enjoys and enjoys participating in and celebrating games, which would encourage more youth to excel.
Abhinav Bindra, along with EPIC’s organization chairman, Dr. Sanjay Kalra and Secretary Dr. Sachin Mittal presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to two stalwarts in the field of endocrinology, Drs. BS Bhatia and Prof. Sarita Bajaj, for their contribution in this field.
Previously, the medical sessions covered various aspects of diabetics, with cardiologists Dr. HK Bali, Dr. Puneet Verma, Dr. Rajneesh Mittal, Dr. Soumik Goswami, Dr. Anil Dhall, Dr. Neeraj Bhalla and Dr. Dilip Bhalla underscored the need for early detection, prevention and treatment of cardio-renal damage
dr Akshata Desai, Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Dr. Mani Kant Singla, Dr. Savita Kapila, Dr. JK Mokta and Do Soham Mukherjee addressed the practical challenges and solutions of using insulin for diabetics.

dr Sachin Mittal, organization secretary, said that raising awareness among GPs is essential to newer developments in endocrinology and also how different organs affected by diabetes need to be treated early.
