Manchester United transfer news LIVE Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe latest plus Shaw updates

With the transfer window officially open, Manchester United are hoping for some big new additions to their squad to continue their impressive first season under Erik ten Hag.

MEN Sports is aware that the Reds will focus on both exits and signings this summer, as the uncertainty surrounding the ongoing takeover saga means it’s unclear how big Ten Hag’s transfer fund will be.

The Dutchman recently revealed that the protracted takeover aga will have no impact on his summer deal, although sales are believed to be necessary if Ten Hag is to add the quality needed to his squad.

A striker and a younger midfielder are definitely on the club’s radar, although he may also be on the lookout for a new first-choice goalkeeper.

As things stand, David de Gea is set to leave Old Trafford at the end of this month, although United have released a statement confirming talks are ongoing for a new contract.

MEN Sports is aware that there is no longer any certainty that the Spaniard will extend his 12-year tenure with United and a number of potential replacement options have already been discussed.

The big talking point today: Do you think United should keep De Gea? Have your say here.

United are heading into the summer transfer window and have big decisions to make, but who would you keep and sell?

REPORT – Ten Hag ‘angry’ at slow takeover progress

According to The Sun, Ten Hag is unhappy with the slow takeover progress that has caused United to fall behind in their Declan Rice pursuit.

The West Ham midfielder is said to have been a target for United but the lack of clarity over the acquisition has sidelined the Reds.

Shaw admits trying to ‘address’ United targets.

United defender Luke Shaw has admitted trying to lure targets to Old Trafford during his international cap with England.

There are a few (players he types). Actually, it’s all just a bit of a joke, we joke and laugh about it. I’m not entirely sure what’s going on behind the scenes because it has something to do with the club. But when we’re here and we’re together, of course we joke about it.

REPORT – Rashford is on track to become United’s highest-earning player

According to The Sun, Rashford is set to become United’s highest-paid player through a “salary swap” with De Gea.

The forward is said to be currently making £200,000-a-week on his contract, which expires in 2024.

However, it is understood Ten Hag wants to offer Rashford a deal that will net him £375,000 a week and offer the Spain goalkeeper a reduced salary of £200,000 a week to keep him at Old Trafford beyond the end of June.

Dumfries offer transfer advice amid United interest

Inter’s Denzel Dumfries has admitted he is happy with the club despite the Reds’ reported interest.

I am very proud to play for this team. The last two years have been fantastic and I’m very proud every time I go to Eppan [Inter’s training ground]. However, modern football is very dynamic. Players come and go. I have no reason to go.

ICYMI: United open talks for Darren Fletcher’s sons

United have started talks with Manchester City to sign the twin sons of club technical director Darren Fletcher.

Jack and Tyler Fletcher have asserted themselves at City despite their father’s glorious playing career at Old Trafford and his prominent role behind the scenes in recent years.

The 16-year-old has had plenty of success in the Etihad’s academy, but they are now likely to bridge the gap at Manchester as United open preliminary talks with City over a dual deal, although no offer has yet been submitted.

United ‘leaders for Onana’

According to the Evening Standard, United are the top candidates to sign goalkeeper Andre Onana.

According to the report, Chelsea have pulled out of the race to sign the capable goalkeeper, who could replace De Gea at Old Trafford should the Spaniard fail to agree on a contract extension.

Before joining Inter Milan, the Cameroonian star was under Ten Hag at Ajax but a move of a new goalkeeper is unlikely to happen before De Gea’s future is decided.

OPINION: Glaser do not keep what they promised

While Joel and Avram Glazer promised a “thorough review of strategic alternatives” when they announced United was up for sale in principle, did anyone really expect that?

Next week will be seven months since that bombshell statement sent potential buyers and investors on high alert, but United is still owned and controlled by the Glazer family and nobody really knows what’s next.

It’s been another silly week in this sale’s soap opera. The chart showing the share price on the New York Stock Exchange looks like one of those maps that chart the Tour de France’s most mountainous stages. The value peaks whenever there are signs that a takeover is imminent, only to fall again when everything turns out to be business as usual.

Fernandes reacts to his worrying record

Fernandes claimed he “don’t think about getting tired” after playing his 69th game of the season.

Fernandes has played brilliantly for United this season and has been de facto captain in the absence of Harry Maguire. The midfielder has been instrumental in the team’s progress and has been praised for his persistence throughout the season.

The 28-year-old has played the most games of any player in Europe’s top five leagues with 5,900 minutes, well ahead of the player who clocked up second-most minutes with 4,500 (Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez).

Pogba opens up on United exit

Paul Pogba left United last year because he didn’t feel any ‘love’ from either the fans or the club.

Pogba re-signed for United in August 2016 for a then-world-record fee of £89million but failed to produce consistent performances during his second spell at Old Trafford and left the club on a free transfer last summer.

The Frenchman returned to Juventus, which he joined in 2012 after initially leaving United, although his first season at Turin was scuppered by injuries that limited him to just a single Serie A start.

Agree in talks with chef

United are in talks with Leeds representative Robin Koch, according to 90 Min.

Koch, who joined Leeds in 2020, is expected to leave the club after being relegated to the Championship and several teams are interested in keeping him in the Premier League.

According to the report, United and Tottenham were among those who have inquired about him.

United ‘considering Onana move’

According to The Athletic, United are considering a move from goalkeeper Andre Onana.

David de Gea’s contract expires this month and while he remains in talks to extend his 12-year tenure at the club, the Spaniard’s departure seems increasingly likely.

It is said United are therefore looking at the goalkeeping market, with Inter Milan stopper Onana, who worked with Ten Hag during his time at Ajax, being one of the options being discussed.

It’s reported that United are now favorites to sign Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.

The Champions League finalist previously worked with Erik ten Hag at Ajax but was widely expected to join Chelsea this summer.

However, the Evening Standard claim the Blues have pulled out of a deal with the Cameroon international, giving United a clear lead on a reported £50m deal.
