In 2010 he reached a grand final at the US Open for the first time. Bopanna and Pakistan’s Aisam Qureshi, popularly known as the Indo-Pak Express, rode a wave of crowd support and goodwill to make it to the New York Summit.

16th in the third round, Bopanna-Qureshi prevailed in straight sets against second seed Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic. In the final, however, they faced top seed and most decorated doubles team Mike and Bob Bryan.

The Bryan brothers had to dig deep into their bag of tricks to defeat Bopanna-Qureshi in two tie-break sets and reclaim the title.

Fifth-seeded Bopanna and Timea Babos lost 6-2, 4-6, 9-11 to Dabrowski and Mate Pavic in the 2018 final.

The 2023 Australian Open proved to be an emotional journey as Bopanna teamed up with compatriot Sania Mirza who was playing her last slam. The Indian duo survived a roller coaster semi-final against Neal Skupski and Desirae Krawczyk 7: 6, 6: 7, 10: 6 and thus prepared a fairytale Grand Slam farewell for Mirza.

They were the clear favorites against Brazilian pairing Luisa Stefani and Rafael Matos, who were both playing their first major finals. But the ability of Stefani and Matos to recover and defend stunned the Indian pair, who eventually lost 7-6, 6-2.
