A look at the latest Puma x Arnold Palmer Collaboration ahead of the AP Invitational | Golf Equipment: Clubs, Balls, Bags
Ahead of this week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in Orlando, Puma recently unveiled its latest collection inspired by the effortlessly elevated looks of The King himself. Featuring a whole range of golf layering pieces, basics and accessories, the new collaboration pays homage to Palmer’s fun, rigorous and ubiquitous heritage and is bold and bouncy – perfect for spring games when the days are getting longer.
It’s a playful collection that sticks to a limited beachy color scheme of navy, white, baby blue and pink — the kind of sunny hues that make you want cold iced tea and a drink with friends. Prices range from $35 to $150, with most items staying budget-friendly at well under $100. Here’s a look at some of our favorite pieces in the line.
The men’s collection includes six cool polo shirts, a t-shirt, two shorts, a pair of shoes, three hats and two layered pieces that are ideal for spring games, which can include their share of drizzly weather and dewy mornings. Each piece references Palmer in some way, often through Arnie’s signature glowing umbrella logo. For example, the Palmer P Cap is a classic, modernized by the sans serif Puma “P” with a Palmer-inspired umbrella clinging to the side like a cocktail garnish. For an even more contemporary feel, the designers have also transformed the umbrella into a modernized, contoured logo that adorns the other cap designs, sweater and shorts.
“The goal was to create pieces that capture the essence of Mr. Palmer’s life, both on and off the golf course,” said Chris MacNeill of Puma Golf. “[We aimed] with a color palette and quality materials that would appeal to all fans who have admired his style and zest for life.”
In keeping with the Palmer theme, another motif in the collection is its namesake mixed drink, illustrated with lemons, tea bags and filled glasses. A fun example of this is the Cloudspun Citrus Polo, which is soft, wicks moisture and comes in three fun colors.
The final subject beckoning Palmer, a Palm Springs regular, is images of cactus. Desert flora can be seen on the sides of the AP MATTR Dunes Golf Polo, along with palm trees, sandy flagsticks and – because you should never leave home without it – a good old umbrella.
