ACP meeting touches on latest clinical topics with ‘world-class speakers’

This year’s ACP Internal Medicine Meeting will be held in person and virtually April 27-29 in San Diego.
According to a press release from ACP, the conference — which revisits last year’s theme of Mastering Medicine Together — will offer more than 200 on-site sessions, while virtual attendees will have access to more than 100 hours of live-streamed sessions and more than 170 hours of Recordings.

“We have packed 3 days with world class speakers and it will be great to interact with them and see lots of friends as well.” Alan Dow, MD, MSHAFACP, a Ruth and Seymour Perlin Professor of Medicine and Health Administration at Virginia Commonwealth University and a member of the Healio Primary Care Peer Perspective Board, Healio said. “And I heard the weather in San Diego is pretty great.”
The sessions will address key clinical topics, including homelessness, updates on COVID-19, policy issues and telemedicine, the press release said.
The meeting will include a Clinical Competence Center where participants will be able to undertake hands-on learning through simulation models with an emphasis on ambulatory procedures and examination skills. Other offerings include popular learning formats such as “Clinical Pearls” and clinical workshops, as well as traditional conference events such as the Doctor’s Dilemma, a medical knowledge competition.

At the end of the meeting Omar T. Atiq, MD, FACP, a professor in the department of internal medicine at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences, becomes President of ACP and Eileen Barrett, MD, MPH, MACP, SFHM, an associate professor of medicine at the University of New Mexico, becomes chairman of the ACP Council of Regency.
