AmeriCorps Releases Latest National Service Reports for US States and Puerto Rico

Reports detail where the 200,000 AmeriCorps members and volunteers serve in the communities nationwide and state-level investments in national service


WASHINGTON, DC — AmeriCorps, the federal agency for national service and volunteerism, today released the National Service Reports 2023. The reports detail financial investments made by AmeriCorps in all fifty states, Washington DC and Puerto Rico. They include profiles showing the location of national service projects, the number of AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps volunteer elders, the organizations they serve in, and other project information as of 2022.

These state reports demonstrate the breadth of AmeriCorps’ presence across the country with programs in nearly 40,000 locations spanning urban, rural and tribal communities. AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Senior Volunteers work at nonprofit, faith-based, community and community-based organizations to address the nation’s most pressing issues in six core areas: Education, Economic Opportunity, Disaster Relief Services, Environmental Protection, Healthy Futures, and Veterans and Military Families. The top five states receiving AmeriCorps and non-government funds include California ($151.4 million), New York ($67.4 million), Texas ($66.7 million), Minnesota ( $65.4 million) and Florida ($56.7 million). The dates in these status reports represent the national service activities completed between January 18, 2022 and January 17, 2023. The 2023 national service reports also reflect the historic $1 billion from the Biden-Harris administration American rescue plan Investing in agency that will enable AmeriCorps to extend greater funds directly to underserved communities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each year, more than 200,000 AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps senior volunteers support student success inside and outside the classroom, respond to the nation’s public health needs, connect veterans to services, fight the opioid epidemic, serve seniors to live independently, rebuild communities after disasters, and lead conservation and climate protection efforts.
