ARK: Bloodstalker – How to Tame, Feed and Breed!

German English

Find out everything you need to know about the Bloodstalker with our ARK: Survival Evolved guide. But also how to catch it, tame it, feed it, and also raise offspring.

The Bloodstalker was added to Ark within the Genesis Part: 1 DLC, which is why you can only find him there and in Genesis Part: 2.

This is the Bloodstalker in ARK: Survival Evolved

Looks: The Bloodstalker looks a bit like a giant six-legged spider that has a proboscis for a mouth, similar to that of a mosquito, which it uses to suck the blood of its victims. He has four fly eyes, which are striking because of their red color. It has four bony, blunt spikes on its back.

Wild: Hanging under a branch, the Bloodstalker waits until its victims are close enough to grab and begins to pull them towards him. Once it has them in its claws, it begins to suckle their blood to satisfy its hunger. Bloodstalkers can also rip you off a mount without allowing you to escape.

Domesticated: Once you’ve managed to tame your Bloodstalker, you’ll have a mount that you can use to swing from tree to tree like Tarzan, pull yourself onto things, or even grab other creatures and drag them behind you.Bloodstalker_ARK - Guided

How to tame a Bloodstalker in ARK

The Bloodstalker is relatively easy to tame compared to other creatures, as long as you’re well-prepared to avoid dying in the process. To tame it you need to get caught by the Bloodstalker and bleed dry. This drains your health unless you’ve prepared enough blood packs.

To create a Blood Pack you will need the Syringe for taking blood, which you can unlock with level 6 and 6 engram points. To craft it you will need the following materials:

  • 10x hide and seek
  • 1x Chitin, Keratin or Shell Fragment

With the blood draw syringe you can draw blood for 25 health, with 1x blood packet as a result. Depending on the Bloodstalker’s level and server settings, you need at least 500x Blood Packs to tame him. But it’s better and safer if you have about 1000x packs prepared.

Since you can find bloodstalkers in the swamps where other insects often roam, it’s best to apply insect repellent to keep the insects away and not harm you or the bloodstalker during the taming process. If they attack you while taming, the Bloodstalker will fall to the ground with you. The taming progression remains, however, taming must continue on the ground where it is much more dangerous due to many other hungry creatures.

Insect repellent ingredients

Mortar and Pestle:

  • 6x fur, hair or wool
  • 2x narcotics
  • 4x Citronal
  • 4x Rockarrot
chemical bank:

  • 24x fur, hair or wool
  • 8x narcotics
  • 16x Citronal
  • 16x Rockarrot

How to feed a Bloodstalker in ARK

Once you’ve tamed your Bloodstalker, it’s important to know what he likes to eat. Bloodstalkers are Confident, which means they only eat blood. So you should have enough blood infusions so he doesn’t starve to death.

The information: When the Bloodstalker is injured and falls below 40% health, it attempts to heal itself by eating blood. If you are currently riding him and you don’t have any blood infusions with you in this situation, he will eat your blood, which in turn will drain your health.

How to breed the arthropluera in ARK

How to prepare for breeding: If you have a male and a female specimen, build an enclosure that is large enough at best. Place both dinos in the pen and set them to roam from the command menu. Alternatively, you can also switch directly to “Pair”, but then a player must always be nearby, otherwise the pairing breaks off due to the rendering.

The breeding interval for an arthropluera is 18 to 48 hours.

How to hatch eggs: If you get a fertilized Bloodstalker egg from a successful mating, hatching will begin. The ambient temperature of the egg should be between 27 °C and 30 °C and 29 °C inside the egg incubator. By default, the little bloodstalker baby will hatch after about 3 hours. After that, it needs about 5.5 hours of your attention, during which you have to constantly put packs of blood in its inventory.

Once it gains juvenile status, it can feed through troughs. The total ripening time is about 2 days and 6.5 hours.
