Attempted murder investigation underway after man stabbed in Salford
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 34-year-old was stabbed to death in Salford. Police are at the scene in Taylorson Street, Salford this afternoon with forensic officers.
Greater Manchester Police say Section 60 stop and search powers are currently in place for parts of Ordsall following the incident at around 8.35am. The 34-year-old was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Initial investigations indicate he was stabbed to death at a property on Taylorson Street, the perpetrator then fled the scene and took the tram into Manchester city centre. A 26-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted murder near New Islington.

Salford GMP District Detective Inspector Chris Horsfield added:
“Our officers have arrested one person on suspicion of attempted murder and we are confident this is a targeted attack and does not pose a major risk to the community.
“I would urge any member of the public who saw or witnessed anything suspicious on Taylorson Street or in the Ordsall area of Salford at around 8:30am this morning to come forward and report this information to us immediately.
“Your information, no matter how small it may seem, could be of great help in our further investigation and help us ensure justice for the victim of this horrific attack.
“We are also appealing to all witnesses to come forward and contact us on 101 or 0161 856 5049 quoting protocol 612 13/2/23 or on our website using our reporting tool www.gmp.police.uk
“We have also introduced a Section 60 in the area to ensure enhanced stop and search powers are in place to give the local community extra security.
“We will also be increasing our patrols throughout the Ordsall area and there will be an enhanced patrol schedule in place over the coming days to provide security for the local community.

Attempted murder after stabbing
GMP has confirmed it is investigating a stabbing at a property on Taylorson Street.
A 34-year-old man is said to have suffered serious injuries and a man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
A spokesman for the force said:
“At around 8:35am this morning, officers were called to reports of a stabbing at a property on Taylorson Street in Salford.
“Emergency services were at the scene and a 34-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that a 34-year-old man was stabbed to death in a property on Taylorson Street, the perpetrator then fled the scene and took the tram into Manchester city centre.
“A 26-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted murder near New Islington in central Manchester.
“Following the stabbing, a Section 60 was authorised, allowing officers in a prescribed area, namely the area bounded by the A56, Trafford Road and Regent Road, to stop and search anyone within the specified radius.”
