Benavidez vs Plant: Fight time, undercard, latest odds, prediction, ring walks tonight
There is certainly no love lost with these heated rivals set to settle their differences in the ring on Saturday after clashing again in an explosive weigh-in.
The prize of becoming the undisputed champion is Canelo Alvarez’s next mandatory challenger up for grabs as Benavidez made the first defense of the WBC interim title he earned with a dominant third-round stoppage against David Lemieux in Arizona last May.
‘El Bandera Roja’ is unbeaten as a pro 26-0 with a fearsome 23 knockouts and has twice already held the full WBC title at 168 pounds, officiating as the youngest world champion in division history, only to be stripped on the first opportunity after a positive drug test and then again after missing weight for a routine 2020 defense against Roamer Alexis Angulo.
Many believe that Benavidez is among the most shunned fighters in the boxing world today after doggedly chasing the likes of Canelo to no avail.
But he will face a tough test against Plant, the stubborn former IBF super middleweight champion who had his shot at Canelo and a chance to make history as the first undisputed titleholder in division history back in November 2021, only to lose despite an admirable effort from a stoppage on the 11th lap.
Plant made his comeback in October, brutally beating veteran Anthony Dirrell in New York before being criticized for his controversial grave ceremony.

Fight prediction between Benavidez and Plant
This was to be the toughest test of Benavidez’s career so far.
Still only 26 years old, the two-time world champion still has plenty of time to move on and secure the massive fights and paydays his talent definitely deserves.
Only three times has the hard-hitting Benavidez been taken the distance as a pro but he needs his full focus on an opponent as tenacious and determined as Plant, who doesn’t have the strength to hurt his rival but plans to outsmart and overtake him while trying to trick him into making mistakes.
Benavidez wins by stoppage in the 10th round.
