Boston Celtics set to break bank with Jaylen Brown’s latest $304 million supermax projections

Jaylen Brown could soon sign the biggest contract in NBA history. The Boston Celtics are reportedly ready to break the bank for Brown, who is enjoying the best season of his career.

On ESPN’s nba today, Adrian Wojnarowski said negotiations between Brown and Celtics are on hold. However, the two sides are expected to agree on a deal worth around $304 million in what will be the largest contract in NBA history.

“This is a deal worth up to $304 million that would be the richest contract in NBA history,” Wojnarowski said. “So these sides will keep talking, and they have a lot of leeway this summer to come to an agreement.”

FOX5 DC’s Chad Ricardo added that Brown’s potential deal could net him $70 million in the final season of the deal.

Brown is enjoying the best season of his career, averaging 26.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He had a career-high batting average of 49.1% from the field, but a career-low batting average of 33.5% from long range.

The 26-year-old swingman was named to his first All-NBA Second Team selection at the end of the season. However, the Boston Celtics failed to advance to their second straight NBA Finals after losing to the Miami Heat in seven games in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Brown is entering the final year of his current contract and has been eligible to sign an extension since July 1. Celtics basketball president Brad Stevens said Wednesday the franchise wants Brown for a long time.

“It was all a good discussion,” Stevens said. “We want Jaylen to stay here for a long, long time and we’ve made that clear. We look forward to all getting together and we have time here. I probably shouldn’t say otherwise, but I’m optimistic.”
