A young girl named Brianna Ghey was found dead in Cheshire Park

Brianna Ghey claimed she was expelled from school just days before she was stabbed.

The 16-year-old was found by members of the public at Linear Park in Culcheth, Warrington, around 3pm on February 11.

Brianna was a transgender girl, but police investigating her death say there is no evidence the murder was a hate crime.

A boy and a girl, both 15 years old, were arrested on suspicion of murder.

Just five days before her death, she posted a TikTok video with the caption, “Was expelled from school.”

It shows Brianna in her Birchwood Community High School uniform in her bedroom.

Brianna has had a huge following on the social media app where her fans are paying tribute. “So beautiful. It’s so sad to see people in the world being kidnapped too soon and in the worst possible way,” said a TikTok user named Immi.

Another, D, said: “Rest in peace Bri you deserve so much better and are missed so much I hope you can finally be at peace.”

“Quiet” village rocked by the death of Brianna Ghey

The ‘quiet’ village where Brianna Ghey was found with multiple stab wounds was rocked by the news of her death.

A man who lived near the crime scene in Culcheth recalled seeing several police cars pull into the park on Saturday afternoon.

“They don’t think it’s going to be anything serious,” he told the Manchester Evening News.

“You see things like that on the news, but you don’t expect it in a quiet village like this. It is an absolute tragedy.”

Another resident, Janet Walsh, described the atmosphere in the village over the last few days as “eerie”.

“It has unsettled the community,” she added. “It’s a big shock to all of us, I just can’t believe it.”

The family of Brianna Ghey, who was stabbed to death in a village park, have made a heartbreaking statement.

Said: “Brianna was a much loved daughter, granddaughter and little sister. She was a larger than life character who would leave a lasting impression whatever she encountered. Brianna was beautiful, funny and hilarious. Brianna was strong, fearless and unique.

“The loss of her young life has left a huge hole in our family and we know the teachers and their friends who were involved in her life will feel the same.

“We would like to thank everyone for the kind words and support during this extremely difficult time. We thank the police for their support and the witnesses for their help in the investigation.

“The continued respect for privacy is greatly appreciated.”

Local mother says children are ‘shocked’

A mother who lives nearby said the children were shocked and upset by what happened to Brianna Ghey.

Maxine Dalton, who says she has a 15-year-old who goes to Culcheth High School, told the Liverpool Echo: “We’re just shocked. It’s a quiet little village and it’s appalling for something like this to happen. It’s a local place for hiking, lots of people go down there.”

Ms Dalton said it was “heartbreaking” that this had happened to a child and that the village was devastated.

She said it “shocked the kids,” adding that it was “terrible.”

We bring you the latest after a 16-year-old girl was stabbed to death in a park in broad daylight over the weekend.

Brianna Ghey was found by members of the public in Linear Park in Culcheth, Warrington, around 3pm on February 11.

A boy and a girl, both 15 years old, were arrested on suspicion of murder.

Cheshire Police said in their latest statement on Monday: “While this is being investigated as a targeted assault and Brianna was a trans girl, we do not currently believe this to be a hate crime.”

Detective Chief Superintendent Mike Evans said police are following multiple lines of investigation and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

He said: “We are doing everything we can to establish the precise circumstances of what happened.

“At this time there is no evidence that the circumstances of Brianna’s death are related to hate.

“Patrols have been stepped up in the area and officers will remain in the Culcheth area to provide security and address any concerns from local residents.

“I would urge anyone who has information, no matter how big or small, that they think might assist in our investigation to get in touch.

“We are also keen for people and businesses in the local community to review any CCTV or dashcam footage for anything that may assist our investigations.”

Locals ‘in shock’

Local people living and working in the village of Culcheth, Warrington, are in shock after the fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Brianna Ghey.

“It’s not good, it’s sad. It’s just so unnecessary, she was so young,” Dianne Nicholson, who works at a newsagent near where Ms Ghey was attacked in Linear Park, told the Liverpool Echo.

The local spoke of the shock everyone felt that the attack happened in broad daylight, adding that “everyone is talking about it” and that the mood in the village is “gloomy”.

What did the police say?
