Brier 2023 Standings: Kevin Koe, Brendan Bottcher lead way after opening weekend at men’s curling championship
Competition at Tim Hortons Brier 2023 is underway as crews compete to be named this year’s Canadian Men’s Curling Champion.
The pool game started last Friday and will last another four days before ending on Thursday. The playoffs are scheduled to begin on Friday.
After the opening weekend, two teams have a perfect 3-0 record and sit at the top of their respective tables: Kevin Koe’s Team Alberta and Brendan Bottcher’s Team Wild Card 1.
Koe’s team picked up victories over Nova Scotia, Northern Ontario and Saskatchewan in Pool A while Bottcher’s team defeated Prince Edward Island, Wild Card 3 and Ontario. The two leaders brought a 3-0 record into play on Monday.

2023 Brier Score, Pools
The 18 teams in the tournament will be divided into two pools of nine. There is one team from each province in Canada and one team from Northern Ontario. There are three wildcard teams and Team Canada, which is last year’s winning team.
Each team plays against each other during the pool game, eight games in total. The top three teams from each pool advance to the championship round.

When is Briers 2023?
This tournament starts on Friday March 3rd and runs until Sunday March 12th.
Pool game will be held from 3rd to 9th. The playoffs and page playoffs take place on the 10th and 11th before the semifinals and finals round out the action on the 12th.

Where will Brier 2023 take place?
The 42nd edition of the tournament will be held at the Budweiser Gardens in London, Ontario. The arena is home to the OHL’s London Knights.
This was the third time London had hosted the Brier, having previously held the event in 1874 and 2011.
What is the purse for the Brier 2023?
The 18 teams compete for a share of a $300,000 prize pool.

In addition to the $100,000, the winner of the Brier 2023 will represent Canada at the 2023 LGT World Men’s Curling Championship. This tournament will be held in Ottawa in early April.
