120 minutes after kick-off: Hello and welcome to The Sporting News’ coverage of the 2022/23 FA Cup semi-final between Brighton & Hove Albion and Manchester United!

These teams are in significantly different situations than they were after their last games last season. United have made great strides in Erik ten Hag’s first season in charge, already lifting a trophy with the Carabao Cup and finishing in the top four of the Premier League, putting them in a strong position to return to the UEFA Champions League.

Having consistently aimed for little more than safety after his 2016/17 promotion, Brighton finished ninth in an impressive campaign. They’ve had an even better start to the season, including a 2-1 win at Old Trafford against a side from United who are still struggling to find their footing under Ten Hag before former manager Graham Potter joined Chelsea.

What looked like disaster to many fans turned into a blessing when the appointment of Roberto De Zerbi in October heralded the arrival of great attacking football and cemented the Seagulls as contenders for a top-six spot.

It makes for fascinating competition today. Stay with us for complete coverage!
