Building new sporting future of J&K: LG Sinha
Srinagar, 19 June: Deputy Governor Manoj Sinha today stressed the collective responsibility in shaping J&K’s bright sporting future.
“By empowering the athletes and supporting the hidden talents in the villages, we can pave the way for their remarkable achievements in international sporting events,” said LG Sinha while presenting the winners of “Jashn-e-Dal”, an organized water sports event. congratulated by the Jammu Kashmir Police in Srinagar.
700 participants competed in 20 categories of kayaking, canoeing and slalom during the three-day event.
Addressing the participants and organizers, the Lieutenant Governor commended the J&K Police for their valuable contribution to nurturing young sports talent and enabling them to realize their full creative potential through civic action programs.
“It is every athlete’s dream to have the opportunity to compete in sporting events, excel in their field and become a role model for the next generation. The ongoing sports activities give us hope and confidence that our players can achieve groundbreaking successes,” said the Deputy Governor.
The vibrant sports culture reflects the image of the rising J&K, determined to build a brighter future for the young generation. Our athletes will play an important role in this task and contribute to building a strong and prosperous Jammu Kashmir, he added.
The Lieutenant Governor reiterated the UT Administration’s commitment to providing world-class facilities, coaching and mentoring to the young sports talent of Jammu Kashmir.
“We are building a new sporting future for J&K. It is our shared responsibility to empower our athletes and help the hidden talents in the villages so they can shine at international sporting events,” said the Lieutenant Governor.
The Lieutenant Governor gave special recognition to the J&K sports personalities who have brought laurels to the nation on the world stage. He also recognized the efforts of sports federations and advocacy departments to promote sports in the UT.
The Lieutenant Governor also urged the people, especially the youth, to fulfill their duties and contribute to Swachhta Abhiyan.
At the closing ceremony, the Lieutenant Governor accepted the salute with an impressive pedal kick and interacted with the players.
