Bundesliga expert reveals how Liverpool struggles actually affect pursuit
An update from a Bundesliga pundit on Jude Bellingham has revealed why Liverpool still have a concrete chance of signing the England international.
Bellingham is one of Liverpool’s key midfield targets ahead of the summer transfer window. The position at Anfield needs renewed energy and the 19-year-old could well provide it. Thanks to his form for Borussia Dortmund, he has built a good reputation in Germany.
Having also made an impact on the international stage, Bellingham has the world at his feet. If he wants to return to English football at club level, Liverpool will want to be his buyer.
However, they face competition from some clubs further up the table. In addition, there could also be an attractive option for Bellingham to join Real Madrid.
With Liverpool currently eighth in the Premier League table, they risk missing out on Champions League qualification. In theory, this could hurt their chances of signing one of Europe’s most sought-after players.
But acc Picture Football boss Christian Falk – whose information is somewhat consistent which TEAMtalk also recently learned – Bellingham would still ‘love’ to join Liverpool if given the chance to reverse their form.
Falk wrote for Caught offside: “I’ve heard that Jude Bellingham is keeping a very close eye on what Liverpool are doing at the moment. I was told no one should think that he is a player who would not go to Liverpool because of the difficult situation he is in.
“It’s the other way around – he’s actually the guy who would like to go to a club where he can turn his luck around.
“At Liverpool he sees that the club needs him and that he can build something there, so the team remains an interesting option for him.
“As you see in the Premier League, they are not very far from Champions League places, but it is important to note that Champions League qualification is not a deal-breaker for Bellingham. Of course it wouldn’t hurt Liverpool’s chances!”
Liverpool still have chances for Jude Bellingham
After 22 games this season, Liverpool are currently seven points behind the top four. They do, however, have two games in their hands against Tottenham, the currently fourth-placed team.
Therefore, Liverpool still have plenty of time to close the gap. However, you need to find some consistency to get there.
In the longer term, the addition of someone as effective as Bellingham could allow them to become a better unit again. For now, however, they must do without him and try to show that they are going in the right direction.
Bellingham, meanwhile, must continue to build on its reputation in the Bundesliga. He has made 29 appearances for Borussia Dortmund in all competitions this season. Along the way, he has scored 10 goals and provided six assists.
After 21 season games, the black and yellow are in second place in the German first division table. Bellingham was one of their main players.
His contract there runs until 2025. However, his club should expect to sell his prize money in the summer.
It seems Liverpool are still struggling to offer him the next step. Still, they have to keep working hard to convince him that they are the best choice.
