After a terrifying season that saw the Canadians finish bottom in the entire NHL, fans will get a glimpse of their reward for this season: first overall winner Juraj Slafkovsky. Slafkovsky will make his Bell Center debut on the ice months after being selected there by the NHL draft.

The other players who made headlines on the first night of the draft play in the trade acquisition Kirby Dach and 26th overall pick Filip Mesar.

Cole Caufield, Kaiden Guhle and Jordan Harris are also among the players in the Canadiens’ lineup after missing Sunday’s scrimmage.

The Canadiens provided some updates with four players: Antoine Coulombe, Jared Davidson, Cedrick Guindon and Daniil Sobolev were released from training camp and returned to their CHL teams. There are now 71 players left in camp.

Nick Suzuki skates and is expected to return next week. Joel Edmundson is still out indefinitely but is in rehab. Madison Bowey suffers from a daily injury that has kept him away from any ice practice at camp.

The second overall winner, Simon Nemec, will not make the trip for the New Jersey Devils. Slafkovsky’s Olympic teammate and former Canadian Tomas Tatar will be in the line-up alongside Nico Hischier.
