Chelsea 1-2 Brighton LIVE! Premier League result, match stream, latest reaction and updates today
Frank Lampard’s winless return to Chelsea continued as Brighton celebrated a well-deserved 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge. After losses to Wolves and Real Madrid, Chelsea were looking for a confident win over the Seagulls before attention turns back to the Champions League in midweek.
Conor Gallagher put the Blues ahead and it was Chelsea’s first Premier League goal of the month but from then on it was one-way traffic throughout the game and Brighton eventually put themselves in a position their performance deserved.
Danny Welbeck equalized before the break with his effective first touch after entering the field and after a constant stream of missed opportunities, Julio Enciso scored an impressive distance winner with 20 minutes remaining. It pins Brighton’s hopes for European football next season and is just another blow to Chelsea in what has been a dismal season.

Chelsea Player Ratings
Mykhailo Mudryk – 7
Mudryk started the game brilliantly, creating chances, firing shots and ensuring Joel Veltman was booked. He played Gallagher with a subtle back pass on his goal.
Raheem Sterling – 4th
Substituted in the 57th minute to rest for Real Madrid after touching the ball just 15 times. Almost a nonexistent display playing in a wrong nine position.

FT: Chelsea 1-2 Brighton
The Seagulls make the double against Chelsea!
Also more than deserved, they were absolutely gorgeous at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea sad apart from a decent first ten minutes and a good final five.
Next up, Real Madrid…
90+4 minutes: Mudryk grabs the ball on the halfway line and just runs towards the Brighton defence.
Go in, on your right foot, and try your luck from a distance. Just climb over the bar.
90+3 minutes: Enciso, the latest Brighton player to suffer from cramps, home fans are increasingly annoyed at the waste of time.
Imagine adding another minute or so to those six.
90 minutes: Added six minutes.
Chelsea have more possession now but Brighton still look solid in their form. I need something special from the hosts.
88 minutes: Great work from James at width, fires a low cross into the six-yard box. No one there in a blue shirt for a tap in.
Chance for Chelsea to get the ball back in play, Gross missed a free-kick right at the baseline.
86 minutes: Webster has to get out injured, he hobbles away. Mudryk can continue by the way, he’s not sure what his problem with the descent was.
Van Hecke comes on for the Seagulls.
82 minutes: Chelsea have a much better spell, although that’s an incredibly low bar.
Felix and Mudryk almost combine, but Dunk heads in a good header. Mudryk was probably Chelsea’s best player but he simply lost the ball.
You have no more changes to make…
79 minutes: Mudryk escapes Brighton’s defenses, deflects back and steers into Mount’s path.
Off balance, 25 yards away and he blows an effort up into the stands.
