For over 100 years, the town of Chillicothe has had essentially only one healthcare option. Beginning in 2024, the community will have multiple choices for various services, including emergency care, primary care, orthopedics, cardiology and vascular surgery, general surgery, and more. This additional selection is proudly represented by Cohen Orthopedic, LLC, Great Seal Medical Group, LLC and Value Health.

The Great Seal Medical Group

As previously announced by ValueHealth in 2022, the Great Seal Medical Group is an independent physician group currently comprised of multiple physicians who have been serving the community in healthcare for over 100 years. The group was founded by several independent physicians with a focus on providing access, ensuring safety and maximizing the patient experience for the highest quality outcomes. With the aim of expansion, current doctors include Dr. Troy Thompson, Dr. Bill Sever, Dr. Jason Foster, Dr. Brian Cohen, Dr. Casey Chamberlain, Dr. Eric Liu, Dr. Mark Malinowski and Dr. Raul Raudales.

according to dr Sever “the project is the result of intensive work over the last few months, which will involve doctors from several specialties. In particular, we have a vision for a patient-first mentality with same-day or next-day access to our providers.” Today’s healthcare landscape is constantly evolving, and the independent, private group will be able to make quick decisions when the environment requires a change. “Ultimately, the patient will always be at the forefront of our decisions,” added Dr. Sever added.

dr Hailing from the Chillicothe area, Sever is one of the top robotic surgeons in the country. He has over 15 years of experience and his skills are one of several factors that will set the facility apart. A local family man, he always strives to give back to the place he calls home. dr Sever completed his medical school at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and his residency at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital in General Surgery.

Cohen Orthopedic, LLC and Dr. brian cohen

dr Cohen moved to Ross County in August 2000. “I was an outsider adopted by the community, grew up here professionally and have never forgotten the kindness shown to me. I have spent more than 20 years developing and delivering high quality, patient-focused musculoskeletal care while giving back to the community, system and staff who have supported me,” said Dr. cohen

While he is best known for his skills in the operating room, many of his actions have been anonymous elsewhere. From supporting staff in emergencies, caring for their patients outside of the hospital setting, participating in county fairs, community events and sports programs in multiple regions, to supporting initiatives such as the Tristan Miller Music Scholarship and The Majestic Theatre. None of these were for personal gain, but examples of compassion, selflessness, and devotion to the patients and members of this community. He has recently treated patients in Chillicothe, Columbus and Grove City but is excited to call the country home.

The country

Right now it’s 47 acres, but soon it will be known as so much more. What is now just a field will be known as a tourist destination, state-of-the-art health center surrounded by ancillary fields, a community center, hotel, restaurant, events center and possibly a multipurpose facility for a 30-year mainstay of Chillicothe, The Chillicothe Colors.

“Having the opportunity for Chillicothe and our surrounding communities to use these types of facilities has been a vision for Paints for over 20 years,” said Bryan Wickline, President of Chillicothe Paints. “By combining this complex with VA Stadium, we immediately become a multi-sports tournament mecca in southern Ohio,” added Wickline.

The land is located on River Road in Chillicothe, Ohio, also in Green Township and outside city limits; Therefore, the team performed their due diligence on the infrastructure requirements. “I am confident that the land and project will create additional employment and recreational opportunities and help improve the quality of life, economic opportunity and development for Chillicothe and the surrounding areas,” said Chillicothe Mayor Luke Feeney.

“Ross County Commissioners are very proud of our district and always welcome new businesses and businesses to move into our area. We wish you luck and every success,” said Ross County Commissioner Dwight Garrett.

From here the land of Wellogy Design is developed (www.wellologydesign.com), a company known for its architecture and design for healthcare organizations. Wellogy prides itself on designing environments that promote well-being, instill sustainability and inspire joy. While development is still in the planning stages, there are some parts that are set in stone.

The healthcare facility will consist of two main components. The outpatient surgery center and a medical office building. The medical office building will house a multi-specialty clinic, emergency care, imaging center, physical therapy practice and primary care clinic.

“The new operations center will raise the bar for patient-centric healthcare in the community and across the region,” said Don Bisbee, President and CEO of ValueHealth. “Together with Great Seal Medical Group and Cohen Orthopedic, we are introducing a new level of patient experience, cost reduction and clinical innovation with the Muve Orthopedics program to deliver on the promise of value-based care.”

The next steps for the project include breaking ground and finalizing the development plan. The team will hold a public groundbreaking this spring. For more information visit www.cohenorthopedic.com.
