College World Series 2023 live score, updates, highlights from LSU vs. Florida Game 2

In 2017, LSU reached the College World Series Finals, facing a Florida team that had prevailed before Omaha reached the championship round. In the end, the Gators defeated the Tigers, winning 4-3 in Game 1 and 6-1 in Game 2 to secure the program’s first title.

So far in 2023, history has – to a degree – repeated itself. Florida reached this year’s finals red-hot after battling through their group, while LSU had to recover from a loss and defeat the tournament’s No. 1 team in advance. And the final result of the first game between the two teams was 4:3.

This time, however, it was the Tigers who edged Florida closer Brandon Neely 4-3 thanks to a home run by Cade Beloso in the 11th inning. LSU is on the verge of its seventh national championship in program history and its first since 2009.
