Colorado Rapids Hosting State’s Largest Public Fireworks Display at DICK’s Sporting Goods Park on July 4

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – The Colorado Rapids, in conjunction with the City of Commerce City, are hosting the 27th Annual 4th Fest at DICK’s Sporting Goods Park FC on Monday, July 4, as part of the Rapids’ game against the Portland Timbers. The Independence Day holiday game, which has been an annual tradition for the club since its inception in 1996, will feature a pre-game family reunion and block party, as well as the state’s largest public fireworks display after the game.


“We are excited to once again partner with Commerce City to celebrate Independence Day with our community at our annual 4th celebration,” said Wayne Brant, Colorado Rapids Chief Business Officer. “Festival 4 is one of our most cherished club traditions, dating back to our inaugural season and a day we eagerly await every year. We look forward to welcoming everyone to DICK’S Sporting Goods Park and enjoying the celebrations together.”

“As our country celebrates another Independence Day, I am pleased to invite all of our residents and those in the surrounding communities to participate in the 4th Festival activities and cheer on our Colorado Rapids as they take on the Portland Timbers in front of the state’s largest fireworks display compete.” said Benjamin Huseman, Mayor of Commerce City. “Also, I want to remind everyone to celebrate responsibly!”

As part of the 4th Fest celebrations, the Rapids and Commerce City will host a family fete at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park prior to the Rapids game, which will include live music, a bouncy castle, football darts, a climbing wall, trampolines, etc. Among the activities include a mechanical bull, trackless train, pedal carts and toddler area. The 4th festival is free and open to the general public.

In addition to the festival elements, the Rapids are hosting a block party for the first time as part of 4thFest. The additional activation, part of the Rapids Block Party Series, will be located along the south side of the stadium and will include a live DJ, drinks, food truck and an LED wall that will live stream the Rapids game. Local fans who live near the stadium can bike to 4thFest and park their bikes at the Rapids’ Burgundy Bike Lot, located on the east side of the stadium between Gates B and C.

After the game against Portland, fans will be invited to come onto the field to watch the largest public fireworks display in Colorado and the MLS.
