The Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions face off for the first time since 2019. In that contest, quarterback Dak Prescott threw an astronomical 444 yards and three points. It’s the fourth most passing yards he’s thrown for in a win in his seven-year career, and the Lions’ defense looks like the perfect opponent for his comeback after missing the last five games.

The Cowboys have a chance to win a half game against the idle Philadelphia Eagles, who are on byes while the Lions come off their bye trying to salvage their season. They started out competitively, but that effort may have bottomed out. It’s the rare early game for Dallas, meaning much of the country doesn’t get a chance to tune in through regular channels. Here’s a look at game info, how to watch or stream, and the keys to victory for each side.

Cowboy’s Key to Victory

Cowboy’s Key to Victory: Regardless of whether this is the week Dallas gets QB or not Dak Prescott back, or Cooper Rush making his sixth straight start, Dallas needs to focus on getting his wideouts more involved in the passing game. Rush’s inability to drive the ball has halted passing play outside the numbers, and the Cowboys need to open the field. On defense, Dan Quinn needs to rebalance LB Micah Parsons‘ Tasks so he doesn’t get caught on a cover island. The pass rush will once again need to focus on the run as Detroit has one of the top offenses in the league

Lion’s Key to Victory

Lion’s Key to Victory: Detroit needs to maintain their high score as their defense couldn’t stop much from anyone. They come out of their bye week well rested, QB Jared Goff will need this receiver to hold the ball as he’s among the league leaders with 12 drops. WR Amon-Ra St. Brown was one of the biggest success stories of 2022, but Goff will need to survive a dominant pass rush or creatively get him the ball if he’s healthy enough to play. The fast attack was strong, and since that’s Dallas’ weakness on defense, it should remain Detroit’s focal point.

Matchup to watch

Lions RT Penei Sewell vs. Cowboys LE DeMarcus Lawrence. Sewell has found his feet in 2021 after a rough start to his rookie year. Lawrence continues to impress in both pass rush and run stop, and the head-to-head duels should be glorious.

Who wins?

Who wins? The Cowboys should be able to bounce back from their worst performance in a month and win this relatively comfortably. Cowboys 28, Lions 17.
