How to feed living creatures
When you approach creatures in Dreamlight Valley, you have the option to feed them in exchange for snacks dream shards (when they feed their favorite food) and the ability to do so unlock companionsthat are essentially the closest thing to owning your own domestic animal who will follow you as you explore the different locations and realms the game has to offer.
It is important to remember that living creatures can only be fed once every day.
As you might expect, not every animal is keen on human contact, so in order to feed each animal you have to do it Plan your actions strategicallyespecially since only two variants of each creature spawn in each location each day.
In addition, every animal in Dreamlight Valley also has their own favorite food that they prefer. Feeding animals these items, found in their respective biomes, not only completes collection quests that earn you Dreamlight, but also earns additional rewards in the form of Dream Shards.
How to feed squirrels their favorite food

Squirrels that roam the Plaza area are some of the friendliest creatures you’ll encounter in Dreamlight Valley. Easily accessible, squirrels will Not Run away from you when approached unless they have already been fed within the feed last 24 hours.
How to feed rabbits their favorite food
Rabbits, on the other hand, are much more shy and will constantly flee from you if you approach them. However, don’t be put off by their antics and chase them down. How to get Critter Companions
In order for an animal to become available as a companion, players must first unlock it. To do this, you simply have to feed the same animal variant – any food will do – twice. Unfortunately, as we mentioned earlier, you can only feed animals every 24 hours, so it can take several days to unlock a companion, as the variants that spawn in each location are different every day.

Once you’ve fed a specific animal variant twice and it’s unlocked through your collection log, you can have the animal follow you by visiting the wardrobe menu and selecting companions. Find them all Select the companion to follow. Once you’ve unlocked the variant, your collection log will be updated and you’ll have the option to select the critter when you access the companion menu via the wardrobe.
All living creatures in Disney Dreamlight Valley
You can interact with creatures by approaching them and giving them food they like. As a general rule of thumb, a creature will enjoy a food that grows in the biome it originated from.
