Dallas Cowboys vs. Seattle Seahawks Preseason Game 3: How To Watch, Who Will Play?
FRISCO — The Dallas Cowboys will wrap up their 2022 NFL preseason on Friday when they host the Seattle Seahawks. Things are a little different for the Cowboys in the so-called dress rehearsal for a team before the start of the regular season, as coach Mike McCarthy has indicated the starters will sit out again in the preseason finals.
McCarthy suggested ahead of Tuesday’s practice at the Ford Center at The Star that the good work of his starters over the next two days would allow the team to repeat the approach for preseason Game No. 3. In other words, Dallas will continue the plan for the previous Broncos and Chargers matchups: Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons and the first players on the touchline.
“We’re going to be working on our (starters) as much as we can over the next two days,” McCarthy said. “We assume that we will play the third game like the last two.”
First-round draft pick Tyler Smith will not play in the preseason finals due to a minor ankle injury. And that’s not the worst news on offense, as veteran left-winger Tyron Smith will be out “for months” after tearing his hamstring while training here at the Star.
It might be time to panic about the offensive line, even if the Cowboys aren’t.
Support for Prescott could still be in question as Cooper Rush and Will Grier competed throughout camp, but McCarthy said Grier will get “a chunk” of replays in his duel with Cooper Rush.
The Seahawks will also focus on the quarterback position, but it’s the go-ahead caller who’s the pick between Drew Lock and Geno Smith.
The door remains open for Lock, who can still earn the job despite testing positive for COVID over the past week and missing the second preseason game. Should he start Seattle’s season opener, it will be against Denver, the team that drafted him in the second round in 2019.
