Drake’s ‘psychotic’ Super Bowl bets, explained: How much money can rapper win, lose on the Chiefs?

Chiefs fans, look away.

Rapper Drake is all-in ahead of Super Bowl 57 in Kansas City, placing nearly $1 million in bets on the Chiefs overcoming the Eagles and winning their second championship in four years.

Drake bet $700,000 on the Chiefs’ outright win, which would pay out nearly $1.5 million and net him $777,000. He also placed two Chiefs first touchdown bets for $50,000 – one on Patrick Mahomes and one on JuJu Smith-Schuster.

In addition, Drake placed a $50,000 bet on the Chiefs winning both halves and a $30,000 bet on Kansas City winning each quarter. Why stop there? He bet $60,000 on a tight end to win Super Bowl MVP and another $25,000 on Travis Kelce for MVP honors.

The highest win Drake can win would be $4.5 million. However, an easy Chiefs win would mean he emerges victorious as he would win $777,000 and also receive the $700,000 he bet on.

Why Roll with the Chiefs? Drake doesn’t sound very sure.

“Don’t analyze the logic behind these bets, there isn’t any,” he said on Instagram.

In Drake’s defense, he bet $1 million on the Chiefs winning the AFC championship game against the Bengals and walked away with a huge payout. His selection hasn’t always been successful in the past, but Drake is banking on the Chiefs bringing him new fortune.

What is Drake’s athletic “curse”?

Drake’s history of betting has had mixed results.

He won big as the Chiefs advanced to the Super Bowl, although his bets on the 2022 World Cup weren’t as successful. Drake placed a $1 million bet that Argentina would beat France in the World Cup final, but as the match involved a penalty shootout, he didn’t walk away with a result.

From what he has posted publicly, Drake has at least had some success in the betting market. He bet the Rams would beat the Bengals in Super Bowl 56 and also won big after betting the Warriors would win the NBA’s Western Conference last year.

Around the same time, Drake lost $250,000 betting on Formula 1’s Charles Leclerc to win the Spanish Grand Prix and missed a $314,000 combination at the Nets, Mavericks and his hometown Blue Jays.

Beyond the betting, Drake has been blamed for teams and players who fell short after working with him.

Several football players have seen their team lose after taking a picture with the rapper, while Kentucky basketball has not won a national title since Drake received a championship ring from the program at the 2012 College Football Playoff Championship in In 2019, The Tide was upset by Clemson.

Drake may have found a way around his own curse in 2019. He wore 76ers shorts to Game 7 of the playoff series between Philadelphia and the Raptors despite being a lifelong Toronto fan. Not only did the Raptors win the series with a legendary shot by Kawhi Leonard, but they also won the NBA Finals a month later.

Drake was on the sidelines for much of Toronto’s title run this spring, possibly proving once and for all that the curse isn’t set in stone.

However, if the Chiefs fall short on Sunday, all eyes will be on Drake and his bank account again.
