Eight notorious sex scandals in sport as married rugby ace filmed cheating in public
The latest sporting sex scandal has seen rugby league star Joe Westerman caught cheating on his wife in an alley.
Westerman, 33, was filmed having sex with an unidentified woman in a clip that went viral on social media. He was subsequently fined by club Castleford Tigers, who ordered him to do community service to educate young people about the effects of alcohol.
The back rower admitted he “needs to work on his decision-making” when it comes to alcohol as he apologized, while his wife Lauren has insisted she isn’t in the video.

She took to Twitter to post: “Can I make this VERY clear that this is NOT me!!!!!! And we have three kids, one of whom is almost 15, and she doesn’t need to see things like that all over the media!”
So Westerman’s controversy is the latest in a long line of esports sex scandals Daily star sport takes a look at some of the best, or rather worst, of the last few years.
John Terry and Wayne Bridge
There’s only one starting spot, and that’s former Chelsea and England team-mates John Terry and Wayne Bridge. The pair went from a perfect chemistry bond at FIFA to sworn enemies.
Terry is said to have been having an affair with Bridge’s then-girlfriend, lingerie model Vanessa Perroncel, who strenuously denied the claims.
However, Bridge refused to shake Terry’s hand when he returned to Stamford Bridge with Manchester City and left the Three Lions shortly after.
Tiger Woods’ infidelity
If Tiger Woods had been a bad boy throughout his career, his sex scandal wouldn’t have been nearly as shocking, but the golf legend was a model pro who broke down barriers in the sport.
It shook the sports world when it became known in December 2009 that he had cheated on his ex-wife Elin Nordegren with several women.
He then entered a treatment center in Mississippi for rehab for a sex addiction, while he and Nordegren divorced the following year.
Minnesota Vikings boat party
In October 2005, seventeen members of the Minnesota Vikings were caught allegedly having a sex party on two boats on Lake Minnetonka.
Around 100 prostitutes are said to have been on board while sexual acts were allegedly carried out in front of crew members.
Four players – Daunte Culpepper, Bryant McKinnie, Fred Smoot and Moe Williams – were later charged with indecent conduct, disorderly conduct and indecent or lewd conduct.

Mike Kekich and Fritz Peterson’s wife swap
While teammates need good bonding, former New York Yankees stars Mike Kekich and Fritz Peterson perhaps stood a little too close to court.
Although they were both happily married and each had two children, in 1973 the couple decided to swap wives – a deal that worked much better for Peterson.
Kekich split from Marilyn Peterson after just a few months. But Peterson is still happily married to Susanne Kekich.
Ryan Giggs’ affair with his brother’s wife
It’s bad enough cheating on your wife, but doing it with your brother’s wife was like Ryan Giggs took the cookie.
In 2011, it made headlines that the Manchester United legend had struck up a romantic relationship with Rhodri Giggs’ other half, Natasha.
Not only that, it took eight, yes eight years, with Natasha even admitting to aborting Ryan’s baby weeks before she married Rhodri.
Wayne Rooney pays for prostitutes
It’s fair to say that Sir Alex Ferguson’s United squad of the 2000s wasn’t the best behaved bunch of lads, with Wayne Rooney, another playing away – although he at least opted for prostitutes rather than close family members .
Rooney issued a public apology to Ms Coleen after CCTV caught him entering a back street brothel. He said: “As silly as it seems now, I have occasionally visited massage parlors and prostitutes.
“It was at a time when I was very young and immature and before I had settled down with Coleen. I deeply regret it now and I hope people understand that it was the kind of mistake you make when you’re young and stupid.”
Ronaldo and the transvestites
Fortunately for the Red Devils, this isn’t a hat-trick of participants on the list. It was Brazilian Ronaldo, not Cristiano Ronaldo, who was embroiled in a 2008 transvestite controversy.
He had returned home while recovering from an injury that ruled him out for AC Milan but was doing all but resting and recovering as he took three women to his hotel.
Or so he thought. When Ronaldo found out they were indeed transvestites, he offered them money to go – but the police got involved and it became major news as they tried to blackmail him for more.
Eugene Robinson’s Super Bowl prostitute
You couldn’t write the antics that took place the day before Super Bowl XXXIII in 1999. Atlanta Falcons cornerback Eugene Robinson was named the winner of the Bart Starr Award.
This award is given to the NFL player who best embodies outstanding character and leadership on and off the field. But later that night he went to pick up a prostitute who turned out to be an undercover cop.
Robinson was still playing in the Super Bowl — but he had a stinker. He gave up an 80-yard touchdown reception in the showdown with the Denver Broncos when the Falcons were defeated 34-19 in his final game for them.
