England manager Gareth Southgate admitted on Sunday that recent results had been unacceptable however, added he is not hiding from criticism after his side were relegated to the second tier of the Nations League.
“The results weren’t at the level we want, we need, so it wouldn’t matter what job you have in football,” Southgate told reporters ahead of their final group game against Germany at Wembley on Monday. “Of course with the national team this noise will be louder and more widespread, I understand that. I’m not hiding from it, we don’t enjoy it, but we have to do the right things every day to keep improving.
