England vs. Germany: Preview, date, time, TV, live stream and how to watch UEFA Nations League match in Canada

Two of the expected favorites for Qatar 2022 are not going into the World Cup in the form they want.

Germany and England meet on Monday at Wembley Stadium as third and fourth-placed teams respectively in Group 3 of the UEFA Nations League A. Both will not advance to the next round regardless of the result, which is even worse for the Three Lions who are officially relegated to League B as they finished bottom of the group.

With less than two months to go before the World Cup, it’s a terrible farewell for both teams but England manager Gareth Southgate believes there are still valuable lessons to be learned against the likes of Germany, Italy and leaders Hungary.

“We can’t say it doesn’t have value, these are important games against top teams,” Southgate said after Friday’s defeat by Italy.

“It’s a stage where of course everyone will react to the results but I thought there were a lot of positive signs from us as a team tonight, a lot of good individual performances,” he added. “Personally, I find the performance [against Italy] was a step in the right direction, but I fully understand from the outcome that this will not be the reaction from outside.

“We’re where we are in terms of timing, but we have to do everything we can to keep the players on course and to believe in what they’re doing.”
