We’re still in the middle of the international break and Everton captain Seamus Coleman was in action last night, leading Ireland against runners-up France. On the transfer front, a new report suggests Coventry City will be ready to sell Viktor Gyokeres at the end of the season if the Sky Blues don’t win promotion to the Premier League. Everton are among a group of clubs believed to be after his services.

January target Beto is ‘ready to fly away from Udinese’, according to reports in Italy, and Atalanta will carefully consider offers for reported Blues target Duvan Zapata.

Former Everton manager after headbutt

Former Everton manager Fran Alonso was bizarrely at the end of a headbutt from Rangers Women assistant manager Craig McPherson after their 1-1 draw with Celtic.

Alonso, who was on Ronald Koeman’s coaching staff during the Dutchman’s time at Goodison Park, witnessed his side equalize in the 99th minute against their Old Firms rivals Rangers during their Scottish Women’s Premier League derby Celtic stood above their longtime bitter rivals.

After the game, however, Gers boss McPherson was visibly mortified by the way his side had given up three points and started a headbutt on his opponent.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, former Blues manager Alonso revealed he was called a “little rat” and later revealed he “didn’t speak to him the whole game”.

Michael Ball: I changed my mind about Everton’s relegation after spotting the Sean Dyche difference

We were stressing before Sean Dyche came to the club where we would score points.

I’m a lot more hopeful now that we can stay up there as I’ve seen a lot more in our performances even when we’ve lost games. We score goals and create chances.

One of the big changes for me is the fact that Everton are forcing other teams to have a different approach in games. Nobody likes going to Goodison Park and it’s an intimidating place. As an opposition player, your job is to calm down the fans and make the game boring for the first 10 or 15 minutes.

We are very guilty as a team of allowing this to happen far too often and being very defensive at home, which plays into the hands of the away team. Since Dyche has come in, that thought process has changed for the opposition as they know they need to be there and comply with our wishes. Dyche doesn’t let games go by. Our players took up this challenge and it shows that the coach has the support of the players. We are no longer a soft touch.

Blues could get a reduced price for Coventry ace Viktor Gyokeres

Coventry City are reportedly ready to benefit from talisman and Everton target Viktor Gyokeres if they don’t get promoted to the Premier League this season.

The Sky Blues have not played in England’s top flight since 2002 but are currently eighth in the league table and, under longtime coach Mark Robins, are dreaming of ending their 21-year exile.

Gyokeres has played a big role in the Robins side’s fortunes as the forward has netted 18 goals in the league this season – a form with which he has been linked with a move to Goodison Park during the January transfer window.

However, according to Football Insider, Coventry have accepted they will be forced to sell the 24-year-old forward if they don’t secure promotion this season despite his contract running until 2024. That means Everton could get a reduced price for a player they were heavily linked with back in January.

Sean Dyche ‘slaps’ the same four words in bold letters on Powerpoint to Everton players before each game

Everton manager Sean Dyche

Alex Iwobi has highlighted that “only the food” has remained the same at Everton after Frank Lampard was sacked and replaced by Sean Dyche.

Lampard lost his job towards the end of January after a 2-0 loss to relegation rivals West Ham United left the Blues 19th in the Premier League and 10 games in all competitions without a win.

But their form has improved since Dyche’s arrival, taking 11 points from a possible 24 to move up to 15th in the standings.

And Iwobi, who has become a fan favorite at Goodison Park, has outlined the big changes the former Burnley boss has been making behind the scenes at Everton’s Finch Farm training ground.

The Nigeria international told The Beautiful Game Podcast: “Before every game, sometimes even before practice, a powerpoint slide has ‘minimum requirement, maximum effort’ in bold.

“It would be easier to say what stayed the same. The food. Probably just the food.”
