After another action-packed Friday in F1, there were plenty of talking points both on and off the track at Monza.

Sainz topped Max Verstappen’s Friday practice session by 0.143s, but both are part of a squad of riders all primed to serve grid penalties at the Italian GP.

It will offer Charles Leclerc a huge chance to win at Monza after he finished Friday’s practice third overall just under two tenths off Sainz’s best lap, with Verstappen, Sainz, Sergio Perez, Lewis Hamilton, Yuki Tsunoda and Valtteri Bottas all attributing to it take grid penalties.

Away from the track, Porsche announced that F1 partnership negotiations with Red Bull had collapsed and the two parties would no longer be working together from 2026.

Formula 1 will also pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II after her death aged 96 on Thursday at the Italian GP. The teams honor the cars while a minute’s silence was held before the first practice session and will also be held before the start of Sunday’s Grand Prix.

Qualifying for the Italian GP begins at 15:00 local time (14:00 BST) in the regular Q1, Q2 and Q3 KO session format.

How can I watch Formula 1?

In the UK, Formula 1 will be broadcast live on Sky Sports, with highlights shown on Channel 4 several hours after the end of the race. Live streaming via NOW is also available in the UK.

Sky Sports F1, which broadcasts F1 races, can be added as part of the Sky Sports channels at a cost of £20 a month for new customers. Sky Sports can also be accessed through NOW with a one-off daily payment of £11.98 or a monthly membership of £33.99 per month.

How can I follow F1 Italian GP qualifying?

In the UK, every F1 practice session, qualifying session and race will be broadcast live on Sky Sports F1 and Sky Sports Main Event, with Italian GP qualifying broadcast starting at 14:30 CET on Sky Sports F1 and Sky Sports Main Event .

Sky Sports will limit its coverage before and after the Italian GP event in line with the channel’s broadcast power following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

In the UK, Channel 4 will broadcast highlights of qualifying for the Italian GP at 18:30 BST on Saturday. The full program runs for 90 minutes and includes both qualifying and the conclusion of the most important topics of conversation from the race weekend so far.

Throughout the 2022 F1 season, Channel 4 will broadcast highlights of every qualifying session and race of every event. The highlights will also be available on Channel 4’s on-demand services.
