While Star Wars may be taking a break from cinemas, the galaxy far, far away continues to expand on television – particularly on Disney+, which has been home to numerous new series and stories that make George Lucas’ original creation seem even more amazing. Next year, the biggest star of the new expanded Star Wars universe will return to screens for a whole new adventure. That’s right… Baby Yoda! Yes, Star Wars has released the first teaser trailer for Season 3 of The Mandalorian. Although an official release date has not yet been announced, the franchise has promised that new episodes will be released in 2023. The new trailer sees the return of Pedro Pascal’s mysterious eponymous bounty hunter with the adorable (and tradable) Grogu by his side. We’ll also see the return of series favorites, including Carl Weathers as the seedy Greef Karga and Katee Sackhoff as the deadly Bo-Katan Kryze, as Mando tries to learn more about his past and what he can do for the galaxy’s future.

Taking place after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, The Mandalorian follows his titular character (Pascal) as he roams the galaxy hunting down criminals, cold-hearted and dangerous. But all that changes when he encounters a small creature that is defenseless and in need of help. Somehow, Mando bonds with the tiny creature and learns how important he is to others in the galaxy, from desperate remnants of the fallen Empire to followers of the ancient Jedi order. As he and Grogu traverse the universe, the Mandalorian battles soldiers, monsters, and other galactic scum while discovering his place among the stars and starships.
Created by Jon Favreau (Eleven, iron man, The jungle Book), The Mandalorian has won 14 Emmy Awards in its just two seasons, with both seasons also receiving Emmy nominations for Outstanding Drama Series. That praise comes from the show’s creative departments, which directors like Rick Famuyiwa (stimulants), Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, Jojo rabbit) and Robert Rodríguez (spy kids, Desperate, From dusk to dawn). Longtime Star Wars fans also love the show for its ties to the expanded universe, including live-action depictions of animated characters like Bo-Katan Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the return of longtime fan favorites like Boba Fett from the original trilogy. Viewers can use the IMAX Enhanced filter on the Movies page to see all movies available in IMAX’s enhanced aspect ratio, and select Disney+ movies have a Versions tab that viewers can click either access the IMAX Enhanced or Widescreen versions.
Disney+ isn’t just home to Star Wars content. To stream these shows and movies, you can now sign up for Disney+ and pay a $7.99 monthly subscription. You can also get Disney+ for a year with an annual fee of $79.99. If you’re a Hulu subscriber, you can add Disney+ to your payment plan for $2.99 per month. Keep in mind that Disney+ subscription prices are expected to increase in December.
