Floyd Mayweather fails to KO Aaron Chalmers in legend’s latest exhibition
Floyd Mayweather faced former Geordie Shore star Aaron Chalmers in an eight-round exhibition bout in London
Floyd Mayweather was distanced by Aaron Chalmers after playing with his opponent for eight rounds.
Mayweather’s final leg of his lucrative exhibition tour saw him fight for the first time in Britain when he greeted former Geordie Shore starter Chalmers in the opposite corner. But despite dominating the younger man, Mayweather couldn’t stop him as he had previous opponents.
Mayweather landed with her left for the first 30 seconds of the first lap and followed her with her right, momentarily stunning the social media star. Perhaps Chalmers’ best chance was to hear the last bell, as the sessions lasted only two minutes.
But he failed to land a significant punch in the opening round when Mayweather brought out his impressive jab. Mayweather had also toyed with YouTube sensation Deji last year before finally stopping KSI’s younger brother.
He looked in a similar mood against Chalmers, who came under pressure again in the second round. The Geordie had a significant size and weight advantage, but they counted for nothing against the former five-weight world champion.
Chalmers attempted to land a jab of his own early in the third round, but Mayweather responded with a one-two to remind his opponent of the gap in the class. The guest star took the opportunity to dance in his corner at half-time as Chalmers attempted to goad his famous rival.
Chalmers wasn’t afraid to come forward, but his style played into Mayweather’s counterattack that left the reality star confused. However, he made it to the fifth round as he at least retained hope of going the distance.
But an uppercut from Mayweather threatened to end those hopes early in the next session. The 46-year-old followed that shot up with a left hook, giving Chalmers food for thought – although the Newcastle fan found himself laughing at it.
Mayweather then asked the cameraman if he’d seen his shot before performing a spin on the ropes – and a dance with a ring girl – before the start of round six. Mayweather then began chatting with Chalmers’ corner while warming to his role as an entertainer.

There was some confusion as to whether the fight was scheduled for six or eight rounds, but the fight continued into the seventh stanza. And Mayweather turned the screw in the penultimate two-minute session when he landed a series of right hands.
Chalmers was still up front on the final lap as he attempted to create a stunning surprise, but Mayweather shrugged off his rival’s attacks and responded with several reminders of his enduring class. But Chalmers waited to hear the final bell – but given the nature of the fight, no result was announced.
“He got us clean on the chin in the second round and that really woke me up, but he’s just amazing. That’s one to say to the grandkids,” Chalmers said. “We brought in so many sparring partners but you can’t get anyone to do what Floyd is doing. The win for me was getting into the eighth round and I did that. Thanks for Floyd and his team, I’m in the mix now for Jake Paul, KSI and hopefully bigger names.”
Mayweather, meanwhile, paid tribute to his opponent, adding: “This guy’s badass, I came to the UK to entertain people. We had fun for eight laps and I’m glad I came. He has to work hard and believe in his abilities because he has a good chin and is a tough competitor.
“I want to thank all the fans in the UK, it’s incredible. It’s up to the fans, if the fans want me to come back, I will come back.”
