Football fans slam ‘bizarre’ reason for Kim Kardashian attending Arsenal v Sporting
“WTF is Arsenal dealing with Kim Kardashian?”
Kim Kardashian paid a surprise visit to an Arsenal game on Thursday, and fans weren’t happy about it.
The SKIMS founder and real estate TV queen was pictured at the team’s home stadium with her seven-year-old son Saint, who appears to be a huge fan.
The North London side met Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League.
Kardashian, 42, looked quite bored during the game, von Saint had a blast judging by his mom’s Instagram Stories.
Saint has been a long-time Arsenal fan and was reportedly spotted in the Gunners’ third shirt at his birthday party in January.
In a post during the game, Kardashian shared a picture of several Arsenal merchandise – matchday programs featuring William Saliba on the front – along with Prime drinks and captioned it “Send HELP SOS.”
Kardashian is believed to have been at the game due to a documentary she is filming. beIN SPORTS reported ahead of the game.
Kardashian is filming part of a documentary in London, according to multiple outlets. It’s not immediately clear what her documentary is about, but it clarifies why she’s in the capital.
Football fans didn’t really buy it.
According to Football.London: “Kardashian wouldn’t be the first high-profile figure to embrace Arsenal as their club of choice. “Celebrity Arsenal fans include rapper Jay-Z and actors Jamie Foxx, Matt Damon and Andrew Garfield.”
Arsenal were eliminated from the league after a 1-1 draw on penalties.
Kardashian’s appearance on the game continues the recent trend of clubs having a Hollywood connection.
Actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought Wrexham AFC in February 2021, investing £2million in a takeover deal.
And in December, Creed actor Michael B. Jordan became part owner of Bournemouth.
Sky News noted that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola recently lamented actress Julia Roberts’ apparent fondness for his team.
At a press conference after Wednesday’s game, he said: “I have three idols in my life. Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods and Julia Roberts. These are my three idols.
“Julia Roberts came to Manchester years ago – not in the 90s when Sir Alex (Ferguson) was winning titles and titles and titles. It came at the time when we were better than United, those four or five years, right?
“And she attended Man United. She didn’t come to us. So even if I win the Champions League, it doesn’t compare to the fact that Julia Roberts came to Manchester and didn’t visit us.
“Even if I win the Champions League it will not compare to this disappointment I had.”
