Gameweek 23 transfers, selections and captain choices

A midweek competition concluded the 22nd matchweek on Wednesday night, and another double matchweek is ahead.

Two of the best in the First League In Gameweek 23, fight and create difficult problems for fantasy football players to solve.

A game that could decide at the end of the campaign who emerges victorious at the end of the campaign can sometimes be unappealing to those involved – a close low-scoring affair occasionally renders forward options obsolete.

But there’s plenty to keep you entertained, which means this next series of games could well score big.

When is the FPL Gameweek 23 deadline?

The deadline for FPL Gameweek 23 is Saturday 11 February at 11:00 GMTThe first game kicks off at 12:30 p.m.

How do the FPL chips work?

  • Bank Boost: In addition to your starting eleven, this counts the points of those who sit on your bench – it can only be used once per season
  • Triple Captain: The captain gets 3 times the number of points for that game week – this can only be used once per season
  • Free hit: This allows unlimited changes for one game week only. Once this has been played, a team will revert to its previous state – this can only be used once per season

Who has the best games in Gameweek 23?

It’s a double game week! There’s a catch again, though, it’s just a double game week for two teams – and it’s particularly difficult to call them.

ARSENAL Welcome MANCHESTER CITY to the Emirates on Wednesday and that could well be a game that will already decide the title race.

Of course, targeting players from both teams is important as you get two games for one, but keep in mind City’s mixed form.

Both have home games first as the Gunners take on Brentford while City host Aston Villa.

Elsewhere, Palace’s struggles should matter Brightonhands, and they will also be confident of victory away from home.

NEWCASTLE – who are also seeing a slight drop in their winning returns – have every chance of three points in Saturday’s late kick-off against Bournemouth.

Who are the best players for Gameweek 23?

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that we’re targeting players who are doubly involved in GameWeek.

Even if the second competition is tricky, it’s better to have players who have the potential for more than 180 minutes of football.

It helps that there are two teams that have been doing particularly well in the Premier League this season despite going head-to-head.

Bukayo Saka

  • Position: MIDDLE
  • Association: arsenal
  • Opponent: Brentford (H), Manchester City (H)
  • FPL Price: £8.3m

Bukayo Saka is a player who feels like a must-have this week, especially since Gabriel Martinelli hasn’t made any offensive returns in recent games.

He has been a leading attacking figure for Arsenal this season, scoring a whopping 111 points for those who own him – his ownership rate currently stands at 26.8%.

He has had one goal and one assist in his last three league games, bringing his total goal contribution to 15 this season (seven goals, eight assists). This is based on an expected target participation (xGI) of 9.81.

Captain material? Why not with back-to-back home games.

Eddie Nketiah

  • Position: FWD
  • Association: arsenal
  • Opponent: Brentford (H), Manchester City (H)
  • FPL Price: £6.8 million

Eddie Nketiah is the Premier League leaders’ starting striker – yet he remains in just 9.6% of fantasy football teams.

And that’s despite his £6.8million asking price and the fact he scored twice in the last home game – a 3-2 win over Manchester United.

Despite tough opponents, Nketiah has scored four goals in his last six (and consecutive home games) so is again an attractive option.

Arsenal also have another double match week ahead of them – so you’re getting a lot of football out of him.

Ben White

  • Position: DEF
  • Association: arsenal
  • Opponent: Brentford (H), Manchester City (H)
  • FPL Price: £4.7 million

Ben White hasn’t been at his best in recent weeks but I’m willing to put my trust in the Arsenal right-back.

Gabriel and William Saliba were popular options early in the season and White has seen his ownership rate rise to 13.7%. That still makes it a decent differential.

There is also competition in the form of Takehiro Tomiyasu. However, White should keep his place and there is every chance of early clean sheets.

White is open to substitutions around the hour/70 minute mark, meaning you’ll rack up six points without having to wait until the final whistle.

Who should I manage in Gameweek 23?

Erling Haaland as City has a double game week, right? INCORRECT!

Everyone will be captain forward this week – especially with that extra game – but for the first time this season I’m hesitant to give it to him based on his performance.

It feels strange to say when he recently scored a hat-trick – and I’m prepared for this to backfire because let’s face it, the guy is incredibly good – but his goalscoring hasn’t been where it started of the year were campaign.

Haaland has failed to score in five of his last seven games in all competitions and a quiet January has dragged on into February – he failed to register a single shot in the recent defeat by Tottenham.

So how about a differential and get started BUKAYO SAKA?

Saka hasn’t scored in a league game for Arsenal this season when they’ve won and considering they have tough games against Brentford and City he could be the one to draw them level or put them ahead.

Ultimately, with two games to play, Arsenal make him an attractive option – especially when the whole country is likely to go with Haaland again.

Safer Options:

  • Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, and Erling Haaland

Alternative options:

  • Eddie Nketiah, Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez
