Georgia Southern’s gold commitment to military-connected students is recognized in latest Military Friendly School ranking
Georgia Southern University was again recognized as a Military Friendly School® and received a “Gold” ranking for 2023-2024. This is the 11th consecutive year that the University has been recognized by VIQTORY for its dedication, effort and success in creating sustainable and meaningful opportunities for its military-connected students.
Georgia Southern was among 250 schools recognized with Gold status for leadership practices, outcomes and effective programs. This award status is given to schools that rank 10th within 10% of the organization.

Institutions that received the Military Friendly School designation were evaluated using public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. More than 1,800 schools participated in the 2023-2024 survey, with 530 schools receiving gold, silver and bronze awards.
Georgia Southern University has a strong and proud history of supporting veterans, current-duty military members and their families and has received many awards for their commitment to the military community. Information and resources are available on the Military and Veteran Services website.
The methodology, criteria and weightings were established by VIQTORY with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the college and military recruiting community. The final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey results with ratings of the institution’s ability, the thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (progress or transfer of degree), and loan delinquency rates for all to meet students and especially for student veterans.

The Military Friendly® Schools List is created each year based on extensive research using public data sources from more than 8,800 schools nationwide, contributions from student veterans, and responses to the proprietary, data-driven Military Friendly® Schools survey from participating institutions.
