Port Macquarie Hastings Council is pleased to re-launch two grant schemes supporting local charities, sporting associations, organisers, businesses and community groups.

PMHC Community Grants and Major Event Grants begin Monday, August 22, 2022, with applications closing on Sunday, September 18, 2022.

The funding programs aim to promote projects, events and organizations that support and present a vibrant, networked, inclusive and committed region.

community grants are available to local non-profit organizations that need support to get initiatives or projects off the ground.

There are five funding categories:
• Community Builders: For projects that can demonstrate a benefit to the wider community.
• Cultural Activities: Provide people with the opportunity to participate in a wide range of arts and cultural activities that improve the quality of life.
• Community Celebrations: To provide events that involve the entire community, encouraging celebration and building community spirit.
• Youth Projects: For projects and activities that will benefit young people and have a lasting benefit for the youth in the community.
• Micro Grants: To support unexpected opportunities for our community organizations to improve people, places and spaces.

That Grants for major events stream provides up to $5,000 in financial support for events that attract visitors to our region or have the potential to attract visitors to our region or make a positive contribution to the region’s economic climate and generate awareness of the destination.

The grant can be used to support marketing activities such as website development, digital marketing and advertising or general expenses if the application is for a sports club.

Quick Grants of up to $1,000 are also available throughout the year and can be used towards all event expenses.

Mayor Peta Pinson has encouraged the community to get creative — and says novices should definitely consider applying.

“There are so many ways to make a positive contribution to our community and I encourage those who have applied in the past and those who have applied for the first time to get involved,” she said.

“We are committed to supporting innovative community projects and activations that enrich the cultural fabric of our region. Please check your eligibility and use all helpful information about the application.”

“Both programs have a comprehensive range of categories, meaning all ideas are welcome and supported. We are looking for ideas that can demonstrate a benefit to the wider community in social and/or economic terms.”
