FC Bayern’s official website has confirmed that former professional footballer Halil Altintop is now sporting director of the FC Bayern Campus. This comes after Altintop spent three years on campus in various roles, gaining experience and learning how things work before taking on this important position.
The role of sports director had been open for a short time. After the then Bayern II coach Martin Demichelis switched to the Argentinian top club River Plate, the then sports director Holger Seitz took over as coach at FC Bayern II the club fears that the constant turnover of managers and staff is hampering the development of young talent. Seitz is to become Bayern II coach in the long term, and it is unlikely that Bayern will want Altintop as sports director in the long term.
Bayern Munich first-team sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidžić said: “We have great confidence in Halil Altintop. He’s been there for three years, he knows the club, he knows how it works and he has over 15 years of experience as a professional footballer. Halil will help the campus develop in his position. I look forward to working with him and wish him every success.”
Altintop himself had a few happy words to say about his promotion: “I am delighted with this challenge and grateful for the trust placed in me. I will do everything to continue the successful work at [FC Bayern] Campus.”
