Amazon 2022 hardware event: how to preorder all of the new tech

Within an hour, Amazon was flooding the Zone with a litany of product announcements. Luckily we were ready; We flooded our respective zones with stories about the new Kindle Scribe, the smarter, more powerful Fire TV Cube, and more.

If you’re wondering when you can get your hands on Amazon’s latest tech, most of them will be out later this year (and as early as October in some cases). Better still, many of these devices are available for pre-order now. So here are all the pre-order links, release dates and pricing details for Amazon’s latest products.

Kindle Scribe

The Kindle Scribe (pictured above) is Amazon’s new high-end e-reader that doubles as a note-taking tablet. My colleague David Pierce has more information on this interesting addition here. Pre-orders are open now and start at $339.99. As for when you can get one yourself, the company promises it will be released before the holidays. Amazon’s shopping page currently lists November 30 as the release date.

Halo Ascension

Amazon’s Halo Rise, a smart alarm clock-meets-sleep analyzer, is coming later this year. It’s unique in that it can track your breathing without microphones or cameras and includes a light that gets brighter at sunrise to wake you up more naturally. It’ll cost $139.99 once it’s available for pre-order, and Amazon says it’s coming this year. You can submit your email address for updates on availability.

A white Echo Studio smart speaker

If you’ve been waiting for a white Echo Studio, today’s Amazon event delivered the good news that a white model will ship next month for $199.99, the smart speaker’s usual price. You can pre-order it now, and Amazon has said all Echo Studio speakers are getting a software update that improves audio performance.

Echo Dot Smart Speakers (Fifth Generation).

Amazon has announced another generation of Echo Dot smart speakers. Here is all the important information we have about them. However, if you use the TL; DR, they look similar to the previous model, but the company claims there are some notable improvements. These include better sound and the ability to serve as a Wi-Fi extender (an additional 1,000 square feet) for existing Eero mesh Wi-Fi systems. You can pre-order the Echo Dot (fifth generation) today for $49.99 or the Echo Dot with Clock for $59.99, both shipping October 20th.

To keep the kids busy, the company is also releasing a new version of the Echo Dot Kids for $59.99 next month, which you can pre-order now. The new models come in either an owl or dragon design and each come with a year of Amazon Kids Plus, which provides access to a wealth of kid-friendly content.

Amazon Echo Auto

Amazon’s Echo Auto for the car has gotten a refresh. It has a smaller, fabric-covered form factor and works with a new roadside assistance feature that Amazon detailed during the event (which you can read more about at the link above). This device is priced at $54.99, although no shipping date was given. The device’s purchase page is here, but instead of letting you pre-order, your email address is needed if you want to be notified when it’s available to order.

Ring Spotlight Cam Pro

Joining Amazon’s home surveillance and security catalog of devices, the new Ring Spotlight Cam Pro will be available October 26 and you can pre-order it from Ring starting today for $229.99. Here’s a deeper dive into what to expect with the new device in terms of specs and capabilities.

The scene is a wooden kitchen counter with a flower pot offset to the right, and in the center is the Blink Mini Camera, a blocky black-and-white device. It's mounted on a white spherical body that makes it look like a Pixar-style robotic device. A cable comes out the back.

Blink mini pan tilt

If you have a Blink Mini camera, the Pan Tilt attachment can — you guessed it — pan or tilt it to give it more functionality. This accessory costs $29.99 and you can pre-order it now. If you don’t have a Blink Mini camera, you can purchase the entire kit for $59.99. According to the Amazon Store, it will be launched on October 20th. Here’s everything we know about the Blink Mini Pan Tilt.

The new Blink Wired Floodlight Camera is also coming later this year and will cost $99.99. Amazon didn’t share any release date information during today’s event, but you can submit your email address for more information as it becomes available.

Eero PoE (Power over Ethernet) devices

Amazon launched the Eero Pro 6E earlier this year, but the company appears to be venturing into power-user territory with the Eero PoE (Power over Ethernet) 6, available later this year for $299.99 . In addition, Amazon now offers a more expensive PoE gateway in its lineup, priced at $649.99. No release date is listed for either product, but you can provide your email address for more information. My colleague Mitchell Clark nicely summarized why you might want – or need – such a thing.

In addition, there’s a smarter Alexa remote called the Alexa Voice Remote Pro. It has backlit buttons that should make it easier to find in a dark room, as well as two programmable buttons. It’s slated to launch on November 16 for $39.99 but is available to pre-order starting today.

Fire TV Omni QLED TV

Last but not least (in terms of both price and desirability) is the new line of Fire TV Omni QLED televisions. My colleague Chris Welch correctly notes that these look like Samsung’s art-inspired Frame TVs, as Amazon has claimed their picture quality is good enough you can show art on it. Amazon will release 65-inch and 75-inch versions later this year, starting at $799.99 and going up to $1,099.99 for the 75-inch model. You can pre-order them starting today, and the Amazon website says they’ll be released on October 27th.
