What you should know

After two games played away, the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors are returning home. Hawaii and the Nevada Wolf Pack will face off in a Mountain West bout on Saturday at 11:59 p.m. ET at the Clarence TC Ching Complex. Both teams are trying to take their frustrations out on each other after recently losing close.

The Rainbow Warriors were close but no cigar last week as they lost 16-14 to the San Diego State Aztecs. No one had outstanding offensive play for Hawaii, but they scored points from RB Dedrick Parson and WR Zion Bowens. Brayden Schager’s 66-yard touchdown toss against Bowens in the third quarter provided one of the most memorable moments of the night.

Speaking of close games, it was close but no cigar for Nevada when they lost 17-14 to the Colorado State Rams last Friday. QB Nate Cox had quite a memorable game, throwing an interception with a passing completion percentage of just 46.51%.

Hawaii is expected to lose this next one by 6.5. Those who got lucky with them against the spread last week should wait to place bets this time as the squad is yet to string together consecutive wins against the spread.

The losses put Hawaii at 1-5 and the Wolf Pack at 2-4. A few defensive stats to keep in mind as you watch: The Rainbow Warriors go into the matchup having picked up the ball six times, good for 35th in the nation. But Nevada is even better: They come in after picking up the ball nine times, good for seventh in the nation. We’ll see if that advantage gives Nevada a path to victory.
