Herbert Hainer says Bayern Munich taking their time to find a new, quality sporting director
Hasan Salihamidzic’s footsteps are yet to be filled at Bayern, but they want to make sure they find the right person, which could take time.
The front office and the board of directors of FC Bayern Munich have been given a slightly new look, as both Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic are no longer represented. Jan-Christian Dreesen was appointed as the association’s new chairman and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge returned to the supervisory board. However, the search for a new sporting director to replace Brazzo continues.
There were a handful of names that were considered to fill the vacancy at Bayern, including Max Eberl, Markus Krösche, Michael Reschke and Stefan Reuter, but all of these candidates were all ruled out. Not to mention Bayern’s technical director Marco Neppe, who could potentially join Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
A crucial summer transfer window is looming for Bayern and the need to secure certain deals could well outweigh the search for a new sporting director for the club. They’ve all but completed the signing of Raphael Guerreiro from Borussia Dortmund and Konrad Laimer is expected to be officially announced as a Bayern player this week, but Thomas Tuchel is still keen to sign a No.6 forward and midfielder.
Club president Herbert Hainer stressed that the club is taking its time to find just the right candidate for Brazzo, as it’s not a vacancy they want to feel in a hurry to fill. “We have very clear ideas about what this person needs to bring. With our ambitions we need a top man. When looking for a sports director, we set ourselves one goal: quality before haste. “Of course we want to have him as soon as possible, but if it takes a few months or until Christmas, that doesn’t bother us,” Hainer recently told Sport Bild @iMiaSanMia.
With CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge back on the board, the duo is in line with Uli Hoeneß and the rest of the Bayern management. The redesigned board of directors has the tools to do what needs to be done, but there it is have There are reports that suggest there is some misunderstanding about exactly who should do what. This could potentially affect the transfer business but Guerreiro’s impending signing seems to suggest they have things somewhat under control.
As the search continues, Hainer said it must be the new candidate The right person for the further success of the association. “It has to be someone that we believe in completely and who can achieve our ambitious goals,” he said.
