How crime scene puzzles in Gotham Knights work, and how to easily solve the Gotham University puzzle

After mourning the loss of Batman, Gotham Knights surrenders control to the bat family to continue Bruce’s mission. After Batman leaves, the first task is to solve the last case he was working on.

This will take you to Gotham University where you will find your first story mission. After a brief movement tutorial, you’ll be introduced to the investigative mechanics, which teaches you how to observe your surroundings and analyze clues to draw the right conclusions at crime scenes.

This first crime scene is pretty easy, but we thought we’d explain how all these puzzles work in Gotham Knights and how to find clues and solve cases quickly. We’ve also included instructions for the Langstrom lab puzzle.

Connor, Jim and I discuss our time with Gotham Knights.

This is how crime scene investigations work in Gotham Knights

Gotham Knights has several investigative puzzles. The more difficult and unique crime scenes are found in story missions, but you’ll occasionally come across some of these in the open world as well.

Once you know what to do, all you have to do is use the context of the current situation and the information you have to come to a conclusion. The good news is that there is only one way to solve every problem. So if you get stuck, keep trying!

First and foremost, pay attention to the cutscene that precedes the investigation itself. If you know what you’re looking for, finding it will (mostly) be easy.

Other than that, your main ally is the AR button. By pressing the DPAD, you send an augmented reality scan that highlights interesting objects, bloodstains, etc. As you move your camera around, these objects will come into focus.

Now you need to read the text and pay attention to the sentences in bold. This will help you rule out the cruft and possibly nominate candidates for further action. Once you’ve gathered all the information available, the goal will change to alert you to the final step.

Now all you have to do is connect the dots. In this phase you want to link two objects together. This is sometimes required for different sets of objects, which means you have to find the right pair every time.

Notes that you should connect are marked with the magnifying glass icon, everything else is just for context. Read the text and see which two can combine and give it a try.

For example, the secret code could be someone’s birthday, a phone number, a movie’s release date, and so on. Highlight the two objects you think are the solution and click Solve.

How to solve the crime scene puzzle by Dr. Langstrom’s laboratory

In this puzzle your goal is to analyze clues and figure out how to operate the hidden mechanism under the floor that opens the secret door behind the closet.

The assumption here is that there is a keyboard somewhere that opens this door, and we need to first figure out what number pad that is, and the passcode itself.

The microwave keyboard is what we need, and the combination is a phone number, which can be found on a sticky note on the back of the notebook. It’s 127, so unlock the secret door by plugging the sticky note into the microwave keyboard and pressing unlock.

With that out of the way, you’re free to roam.
