What is Jaylen Brown’s injury?
With less than two minutes remaining in the second quarter of Wednesday’s game, Brown missed a 3-pointer from the right corner. As he rushed to get the rebound, he was accidentally elbowed in the face by teammate Jayson Tatum.
Brown immediately went downstairs and covered his face before heading straight to the dressing room. The team later announced this that he would not return, initially describing the injury as a facial contusion.
Shams later reported to The Athletic’s Charania that Brown had suffered a facial fracture.
Brown left the game with four points, three assists and two rebounds in 18 minutes.
How long will Jaylen Brown be out?
Brown could be sidelined through the All-Star break, according to Charania. He will be examined by a specialist on Thursday.
“He was calm. He was in a lot of pain,” Celtics guard Malcolm Brogdon told reporters after Boston’s 106-99 win. “[I] just told him to feel better. I don’t think we could do anything for him.
“But he was in a lot of pain when he left. We will pray for him.”
At the start of the contest on Wednesday, Brown averaged 27.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 49.0 percent from the field and 33.4 percent from 3-point line shot.
