Floyd Mayweather prepares to compete in his latest exhibition fight when he heads to London’s O2 Arena to take on celebrity and rookie boxer Aaron Chalmers.
The fight in the 20,000-seat venue against Chalmers, best known for his role on reality TV show Geordie Shore, will be Mayweather’s first in the UK.
Mayweather’s ability to headline an arena show more than five years after his last professional fight demonstrates the enduring fascination of an athlete who has repeatedly broken pay-per-view records.

Mayweather is 45 and celebrates his birthday on February 24, the day before he takes on Chalmers.

Floyd Mayweather record, bio
As the opening bell barely rang at Mayweather’s first fight on Oct. 11, 1996, television commentators pointed out that the prospect was fighting to honor his father Floyd, who was jailed at the time after being part of the illicit drug trade in 1993.
Mayweather viciously knocked out his newcomer Roberto Apodaca in round two of that fight under the tutelage of his uncle Roger, who coached him until his father left prison after his 14th fight.
Michigan-born Mayweather defended the WBC super featherweight title eight times after winning it against Genaro Hernandez and cleaned up in the lightweight division beginning with defeating Jose Luis Castillo in 2002 for the WBC and The Ring lightweight title.
In 2005, Mayweather beat Arturo Gatti to win the WBC super lightweight title and three years later he defeated Zab Judah for the IBF and IBO welterweight titles.
The man now known as “Money” also beat Carlos Baldomir for the WBC, IBA and The Ring welterweight titles in 2005 and knocked out British favorite Ricky Hatton in 2007 to retain all of his belts.
Between Baldomir and Hatton’s bouts, Mayweather beat Oscar De La Hoya for the WBC light middleweight title. In a 2010 run, he beat highly decorated fighters like Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto, Canelo Alvarez and Marcos Maidana and then moved up to welterweight after becoming the WBA, WBC and The Ring light middleweight champion.

Most fans had spent much of the latter part of Mayweather’s peak years praying that he would take on his great Manny Pacquaio, which he did in 2015 — by which point many felt the competition was compounded by the ages of both Boxer had been reduced – to win the WBO welterweight title.
Mayweather initially retired that year after defeating Andre Berto, but returned two years later to beat UFC Champion McGregor via TKO in one of the most profitable cross-promotional fights of all time.
Since then, the man with a perfect professional record of 50 wins – 27 by KO – has competed in exhibition matches against kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa and YouTuber Logan Paul.
Chalmers has a huge social media profile but has only had one boxing match and has never fought at world level. The question could be whether Mayweather’s stardust can still make the spectacle in London unforgettable.
