How to Change Font Size on iPhone

To make screen content easier to read, you can increase or decrease the font size on your iPhone. You have several ways to do this, both system-wide and on an app basis. We show you your options.

Note: Your iPhone can only change the font size in Dynamic Type supported apps. These apps include Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Phone, Notes, and more. If you are unsure about an app, change the font size and see if it is reflected in your app.

Increase or decrease the font size on an iPhone

To start changing the font size, launch the Settings app on your iPhone. In Settings, scroll down a bit and select “Display & Brightness”.

On the Display & Brightness page, select Text Size.

Choose "text size."

At the bottom of the Text Size page, you’ll see a slider. Drag this slider to the left to decrease the font size. To increase the font size, drag the slider to the right.

Tip: You can return to this page later to readjust your font size.

Your iPhone will now display a larger or smaller font depending on the option you selected above. Enjoy!

Make your iPhone’s font even bigger

If you want to make your font even larger, use the Larger Text iPhone accessibility feature as follows.

Launch the Settings app on your iPhone and choose General > Accessibility.

Beat "Accessibility."

Under Accessibility, choose Larger Text.

Tip: To make your font bold, turn on the Bold toggle on the Accessibility page.

Choose "Larger text."

At the top of the Larger Text page, check Larger Accessibility Sizes.

At the bottom of the same page, drag the slider to the right to enlarge the font even more. Drag the slider all the way to the right to make your font as large as possible.

Change iPhone Font Size Per App

If you want to increase or decrease the font size, but in a specific app and not system-wide, there’s an option in iOS 15 or later that lets you do it.

First, open the settings on your iPhone and tap on “Control Center”.

Choose "control center" in the settings.

Choose Customize Controls.

Beat "Customize controls."

In the More Controls section, next to Text Size, tap the green + icon. This will add the Text Size control to your Control Center.

If this item is already listed in the Include section, you don’t need to complete this step.

After the item is added to your Control Center, quit the Settings app and launch the app where you want to change the font size.

With the app open, access the Control Center and tap on the “Text Size” option. It’s a symbol with two “A’s” in it.

Tap on the app only option on the bottom left. Then use sizing to increase or decrease the font size.
