Hi panic, thanks for the reply. Got it all stripped down but the silver bit wont slide off the steering shaft, got the bolt removed and the steering lock isn't engaged so dont see why it wont slide forward, it does have a small amount of rotational movement but zero forward. Checked an inline 20 amp fuse from ignition switch to solenoid, it's good.

Theres an allen headed bolt to the left of the steering lock housing which has to be removed and then its just a case of yanking off the barrel lock housing (don't trap any skin 😥 You will need to remove the steering wheel, cowling, 3 screws holding the the whole ignition piece, slide off, there will be wires to unplug, 1 screw for the ignition switch and swap. Those items you mention are all powered by that relay for a battery power saving feature.

Try a different key if you have one. ) the switch is just one screw away below the barrel, and make sure you removed this plug too. Remove the 4 slot head screws which hold on the ignition/light stalks etc, and pull back the stalks 4.
