We’re hiring again, this time for a full-time Associate Commerce Editor to help keep our buying guides updated and work with our new reviews team to turn their expertise into actionable advice. Wanna throw your hat in the ring? Then read on to find out more!

Associate Commerce Editor – Full-time, Remote

Are you an experienced writer and editor who enjoys working in a fast-paced, remote environment working on our buying guides to ensure we recommend the best products available? This could be the job for you!

(Note: This job is remote work from home.)

In short, How-To Geek is looking for someone who loves tech products and is a solid writer, researcher, and editor. You should have experience writing technology products and be able to keep up with new technological developments. They would work on buying guides for everything from laptops and routers to phone cases, USB cables, portable battery packs, robot vacuums and tablets.

You would work with our commerce editor to keep our shopping guides updated, research the best products, write about the products, and perform other tasks as needed.

We have recently opened a corporate office and are also expanding our appraisal operations. They would also work with our review manager and review team to convert the insights from our reviews into actionable purchase recommendations for our readers.

what you would do

  • Work with our commerce editor to regularly review our library of buying guides to ensure recommended products are current and in stock.
  • Researching updated products for recommendation and writing up for our buying guides, and completing any other update-related tasks that may be required.
  • Work with our review team to incorporate insights and recommendations from their expertise into our trade articles.
  • Performing other related tasks that may be required, including collaborating with freelancers to create new buyer’s guides or updates to existing buyer’s guides.
  • Occasionally write buyer’s guides and other trade-related articles.

skill requirements

  • Proven experience writing about products, particularly technology-related products
  • Hands-on experience writing for an online audience (Bonus points for experience in an editorial role.)
  • Ability to dive into new topics related to technical products and learn them quickly
  • Detail oriented and deadline oriented with a get things done attitude
  • Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy and quality
  • Ability to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working with WordPress desirable
  • Basic knowledge of SEO principles is an advantage
