To get Collei for free in Genshin Impact during Genshin Impact 3.0 update, you must Complete the tutorial quest “The Unappreciated Carving” as part of the Graven Innocence event.
The Graven Innocence Event begins once the 3.0 update is available on Wednesday, August 24thand ends on Tuesday 27 Septembera day before the release of update 3.1.
Inviting Collei is essentially like pulling her off a banner. So if you already have the 4-star Dendro character, you’ll get her Stella Fortuna instead. As mentioned above, each Stella Fortuna can then unlock a Constellation level, increasing Collei’s abilities.

To start The Unappreciated Carving quest in Genshin Impact, you must travel to Port Ormos in the Sumeru region. If you haven’t visited this country yet, check out our How to get to Sumeru page.
Port Ormos itself is located in the southern part of Sumeru, so you need to travel a bit to reach this place. Luckily, you’ll find a Waverider waypoint on your travels, allowing you to arrive at port in style.
Once there, you must visit Acara Crafts, located on the upper level of the port. When you reach the toy store, a cutscene will automatically start, and this will begin the quest The Unappreciated Carving.
How to complete The Unappreciated Carving quest in Genshin Impact
In Genshin Impact’s Unappreciated Carving quest, track down Tanger, a children’s book author, so he can assist Acara Crafts in making toys for children. However, he’s looking for inspiration, so you’ll need to travel to Gandharva Hill to find him.
Instead of Tanger, you’ll find Collei, and after a cutscene, her character will automatically unlock. The quest is still worth completing, both for access to the Graven Innocence event and for its rewards.
Next you need to find Tanger in the hills north of Gandharva Ville.
After finding him, examine the nearby tree hollow and read the three notes lying on the ground.
After talking to Tanger again, the quest will now only progress between 00:00 and 4:00. You can either wait for time to progress naturally or skip ahead. When the time comes, go back to the tree cave and watch the cutscene.
When morning comes, return to the tree hollow for the third and final time to witness the end of the quest. You can now participate in the Graven Innocence event! You will also receive 80 Primogems, 20,000 Mora, 2 Hero’s Wit and an Exquisite Camera, which are only available for the duration of the event.
