Meanwhile, just last week, Google rolled out a Wear OS 3 version alongside the Pixel Watch, giving users easy control over their home devices with just a few swipes of their wrist.

Using Google Home on your Wear OS watch

Once installed, you can easily access the Google Home app from your watch’s app drawer. When you open it for the first time you will have to choose a home if you have several. From there, the app remembers your choices and lets you dive into individual rooms to select devices to control.

In any room, tiles work just like they do in the Google Home app on Android. Tapping a smart light tile turns it on while you swipe your finger to adjust the brightness. There are countless types of devices out there, so you’ll need to play around with yours to get a feel for how they work.

There’s a quick settings tile to access Google Home from the Pixel Watch too. You may need to restart your clock for it to appear. You can also add a complication to the watch face you’re using, although that’s just an app shortcut and doesn’t complete any specific action. For example, the concentric dial allows you to add complications with the Half Dial layout. From there, simply select one of the slots and choose Google Home from the list that appears in the Pixel Watch app. Alternatively, you can tap and hold your watch face and then press the edit pen to adjust it.

The Google Home app for Wear OS 3 isn’t perfect, although we expect big improvements over the next few months as Google Home sees its planned makeover.
