How To Get More Emotes

There are some key elements that are part of most multiplayer shooter games and you’d be surprised if you left them out when playing a new game. Emotes are one of the most widely used staples, so it’s no surprise they’re featured in Splatoon 3 as well. Obtaining these is fairly rare in the game, however, as you won’t unlock them all that often.

Earning additional emotes in Splatoon 3 involves leveling up, but it won’t happen by leveling up your character in-game. Instead, you’ll need to upgrade your catalog, which you receive after visiting Hotlantis for the first time, the general store run by Harmony in-game. However, you cannot visit Hotlantis until you reach level 4 with your character.

What emotes are available in Splatoon 3 Season 1?

After visiting the store for the first time, Harmony will give you the catalog that serves as the Battle Pass in Splatoon 3 and rotates every three months. The first of these is known as Drizzle Season 2022 and will run until November 30, 2022. There will be subsequent catalogs with new items.

As for emotes in Splatoon 3, you’ll have to level up this catalog over the next few months to get a bunch of different rewards, including emotes. In fact, you earn emotes at the following levels:

  • level 3
  • level 15
  • level 35
  • Level 51
  • Level 76
  • level 98

As you can see, there are only six of these that you can obtain for now, apart from the one default emote that you receive in-game. To get a better idea of what all the rewards will be, you can download the Nintendo Switch Online mobile app and log into the Splatoon 3 section to see them all.

The only emote that people will likely really go for is this dab emote, but you need to level up your catalog to level 98 to unlock it. As a result, it will more than likely take you a while to get there.

Leveling your catalog doesn’t seem quite as tedious as leveling your character as there are more ways to improve the catalog. For starters, you get bonus XP for winning your first game of the day. Additionally, playing matches in Turf War will reward you with Catalog XP, whether you win or lose. However, winning will give you more.

However, Turf War isn’t the only method to earn Catalog XP, as you can also play Salmon Run to earn them. This gives you an alternate game mode to play that allows you to hop back and forth between the two to avoid the monotony of one versus the other as you grind for the XP.

There will be additional emotes and more rewards to earn once the new catalog comes out, but you still have six of them to work toward for now.
