How to get Morelull in Pokémon Go

Morelull first appeared in Pokémon Go on Friday, October 14 during the 2022 Festival of Lights.

During this event you can get Morelull in different ways:

  • In the wilderness – More frequent appearances during the Festival of Lights
  • incense encounter – Increased chance of encountering him when using Incense during the Festival of Lights
  • One Star Raids – During the Festival of Lights
  • Field research task Festival of Lights – Catch 15 Pokemon
  • Festival of Lights Timed Research Quest – Hatch 2 Eggs as part of Step 1 of 2

As you can see from the methods listed above, encountering Morelull in the wild is the easiest way to find this living mushroom in Pokémon Go. You can increase your chances by using an incense that lasts for two hours thanks to Festival of Lights bonuses.

Since the Festival of Lights is a short event, it’s a good idea to also fight Morelul in a raid. Since Morelull is a one-star raid Pokémon, you should be able to defeat Morelull on your own—if your Pokémon are strong enough, of course. Check out the sections below to learn more about Morelull’s counters and weaknesses.

If you’re looking to capture Morelull on his Festival of Lights field research quest, keep in mind that the quests awarded by PokéStops change daily. Because of this, Morelull’s quest might be hard to find, especially since you can still get field research quests from the monthly pool alongside the event-exclusive quests.

At the time of writing, we don’t know what Morelull’s spawn rate will be when the 2022 Festival of Lights is over. However, there is a chance that like other recently released Pokemon, it will be difficult to find.

Since the Festival of Lights is a short event, you only have a small window to easily collect the required candy for Morelull’s evolution. Because of this, every time you try to catch a Morelull, you should use a Pinap Berry to double your Catch Candies. You can also collect extra candies by making a Morelull your buddy Pokémon and exploring the world while playing Pokémon Go.

The Festival of Lights is currently underway in Pokémon Go, which has seen the release of Morelull and Shiinotic. Quest steps 5 through 8 of A Cosmic Companion are now live as part of the Season of Light. Elsewhere, be sure to use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. There is also a new special research quest – A Mysterious Incense. Last but not least – don’t forget the new Prime Gaming rewards every two weeks.

  • Best Morelull counters – For Fire-types, Entei and Reshiram. For flight types Moltres, Rayquaza and Honchkrow. For Venom types, Beedrill, Roserade, and Victreebel. For Ice types, Mamoswine, Abomasnow and Darmanitan (Galarian). For steel grades, Metagross, Dialga and Excadrill.
