Where are Angler Slimes?

Angler Slimes, as the name suggests, are aquatic slimes. They are blue in color and share certain traits with the anglerfish, such as the glowing antennae light protruding from their head and a set of fins. Angler Slimes can stun their food and other slimes with their antennae, making them tricky predators in the wild. Their overwhelming powers are so strong that they can even stun other Angler Slime. They tend to hang out near bodies of water in game, but these slimes aren’t in Rainbow Fields. Angler Slimes appear in two locations on Rainbow Island:

  • Ember Valley
  • Starlight Beach

Getting to both locations isn’t as easy as walking around the island, and players need to take a few steps to unlock them.

Ember Valley

Ember Valley is one of the first locations players can unlock on Rainbow Island. Its volcanic environment is its most notable feature, full of many rare resources and slimes, including Angler’s Slime. On their travels, ranchers will encounter giant stationary slimes called Gordos. A Pink Gordo slime on the northwest side of Rainbow Field is the key to getting to Ember Valley. Players must feed the slime its preferred food (anything edible in this case) until it explodes. Once the slime is gone, a geyser will shoot up water leading to a hidden cliff path with a device at the end. After interacting with the device, a dazzling portal of light will appear, leading directly to Ember Valley.

Angler slime live near the caves and tunnel system in the heart of Ember Valley, so head to the volcano and find a tunnel entrance. Keep following the cave, which will eventually lead to a pond with fisher slime and a few other species.

Starlight Beach

Getting to Starlight Strand to find Angler Slime is a very similar process. First, players must find the Cotton Gordo Slime in the southwest zone of Rainbow Fields. The Cotton Gordo sits in front of a cave with a device that opens the portal to Starlight Strand. This slime only eats veggies, so water lettuce or carrots work perfectly to make it explode. Starlight Beach has many shores and marshes because the sea divides it in two. The plant life also reflects this divide, with one side in shades of blue and the other in red.

Because Starlight Beach has so many shores, Angler Slime thrives there. They populate the tide pools throughout the area, so a boom and bust is guaranteed to find a few.

How to raise fishing slime

After collecting Angler Slimes, ranchers can return to the Conservatory to pen them. For Newbucks they can upgrade the enclosures with Air Net, High Walls, Port Collector, Auto Feeder and more. Angler Slimes eat meat, so hen and roostros will do. However, to get them to drop two plorts at once, ranchers should feed them sea hens, which can be found in the wild near Angler Slime on the shores.

It is recommended to prepare them Largos with a different slime to give them a broader diet. When a slime eats the plorts of another species, they become a largo slime and inherit physical and nutritional traits from the other slime. It’s a good idea to equip High Walls and the Air Net to contain the larger Largos when they get rowdy. Be warned, if a Largo Slime eats a third kind of Plort, it will turn into a cannibalistic Tarr Slime and multiply to wreak havoc on the ranch.
